Job Description

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

2. Three to Five years of experience in network support or related field and knowledge of Microsoft Server and Active Directory.

3. Dedicated training and related field certification in one or more leading network operating systems. (Cisco preferred)

4. Strong technical background in information technology; ability to design, deploy, administer, and support a robust, complex, highly available, enterprise network communications platform in a timely manner under high pressure situations; ability to gather and assess enterprise network needs, take abstract ideas, and convert them into creative designs, procedures, and solutions; strong and effective communication and customer service skills with the ability to work well across departmental boundaries and effectively negotiate solutions

5. Knowledge of and ability to perform as the technical team lead; and ability to assign projects and supervise contracted personnel with little or no assistance.

6. Knowledge and experience of current technology environments including telecommunications, networks, database administration, programming, media and desktops, implementation of effective 21st century telecommunication and technology practices.

7. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work successfully with other professionals.

8. Strong Knowledge of Information Security processes.

9. Familiarity with E-Rate application and monitoring procedures.

10. Knowledge and understanding of the following: content filtering and firewall solutions (Barracuda preferred); enterprise wireless solutions (Cisco preferred); back-up systems; mobile device management (MDM) solutions; VLANS and configuring Cisco switches; VMware; Mac OS, Windows OS, iPadOS, and iOS; and email systems

11. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find acceptable and appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Prompt and regular attendance

2. Provide oversight of the daily operations relating to hardware deployment, maintenance, and structure as well as design, development, testing, and implementation of a highly available, communications network

3. Manage and oversee the design and implementation of voice and data networks.

4. Study industry standards and best practice procedures and guidelines to develop a design that can seamlessly integrate with the Liberty County School System (LCSS) goals and objectives.

5. Supervise and instruct the Wide Area Network (WAN) operations

6. Work with contracted vendors for network support

7. Oversee email system

8. Coordinate the evaluation and assessment of potential network applications and resources that can potentially and often are implemented within the LCSS computing environment.
9. Assess and determine areas of potential impact and/or concern regarding the implementation of new applications/resources to the LCSS enterprise network.
10. Determine the impact of potential new applications/resources on the LCSS network to provide an environment that will efficiently and effectively meet the requirements of teaching and learning while preventing/predicting potential negative impact.
11. Oversee the analysis, troubleshooting, and repair network failures and outages and analyze, troubleshoot, and repair network failures.
12. Ensure students, teachers, and administrators have access to network resources when needed.
13. Provide and assure high-level support to customer service and local school technical staff.
14. Provide direct support regarding network, hardware, and communication issues via the telephone and on-site to schools and staff
15. Consult when there appears to be an issue pertaining to network/application response by utilizing technical skills and analyzing data traffic to isolate and identify the root cause.
16. Oversee the monitoring, trend identification and analysis, and documentation of the health and operations of the WAN/Local Area Network (LAN) and wireless networks.
17. Monitor the necessary data to determine when upgrades will be required and to predict and prevent issues/outages of the enterprise-wide network.
18. Make recommendations for future capital improvements to the LCSS network.
19. Familiarize themselves with all aspects of the technology department, including but not limited to, Technical Support, Network Support, System Analyst, Information Systems, and Instructional Technology.
20. Fill in for the Executive Director of Technology and Media in her or his absence.
21. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.


Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including: Medium Work-Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects, and ability to climb ladders

Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Technology Director in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on classified evaluation.
