The Director of Graduate Admissions is responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing the recruitment and enrollment strategies for the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies in consultation with the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Director oversees the Graduate Admissions Office, and oversees, supports, and implements recruitment initiatives and targeted marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and the Office of Communications. The Director will generate potential student interest to increase the number of applications and inquires with the goal of meeting enrollment targets. The Director will have primary responsibility for the implementation and oversight of the admissions process, including working with financial aid and billing as students are admitted. The Director of Graduate Admission will build and cultivate collaborative relationships both on and off campus, address barriers to enrollment, and provide expertise on both the marketplace and the needs of today’s graduate students. The Director will establish admissions office policies, systems, and technology solutions reflecting best practices in graduate admissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining and reporting inquiry and applicant data, and developing and maintaining databases
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with career education offices, graduate directors, faculty, employers, educational agents to develop a wide base of prospects for expansion of the College’s recruitment efforts
- Designing, plan and staff Graduate Admission recruitment events during normal hours as well as on weekends and nights including information sessions, open houses, webinars and recruitment travel with the goal of generating prospective student inquiries and applications
- Establishing and evaluating admissions and acceptance policies to reflect best practices, meet federal guidelines
- Overseeing the graduate admissions application processes, website, and related materials
- Identifying and targeting new populations of potential students, networking with organizations and institutions, and creating pipelines of applicants with the goal of meeting enrollment targets
- Working with graduate directors, faculty, staff, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Marketing, Enrollment, and Communications to implement the marketing, branding, and identity strategy for Graduate and Professional Studies
- Developing, overseeing, and implementing comprehensive recruitment, admission, and enrollment strategies for the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies
- Supporting marketing and recruitment efforts for each program which clearly articulate the benefits of the program, engage students through multiple channels (print, media, social media, email, etc.) and maintain a relationship with the student from the point of expressed interest through enrollment
- Developing reports and feedback on pricing, competitors programs strengths and enrollments, assessment of trends and benchmarking
- Assist the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Director of International Programs in designing and implementing international student recruitment strategies and supporting the College’s initiatives in internationalizing the curriculum and the student body.
- Overseeing, training, and evaluating the graduate admissions staff
- Defining and implementing performance metrics and tracking of admissions and recruitment efforts
- Support marketing and communications efforts and evaluate and refine marketing, messaging, and communications to drive enrollment growth
- Collecting relevant data for analysis, tracking, benchmarking and decision making
- Collaborating with undergraduate admissions staff
Education and/or Experience
Master’s Degree preferred; will consider candidates with Bachelor’s and extensive experience in graduate admissions. Exceptions may be made where the applicant can satisfactorily demonstrate equivalent expertise through experience and training in graduate admissions.
- Prior experience in a lead Admissions role preferred.
- Experience with the development of admission policy is helpful but not required
- Experience recruiting on-campus, off-campus, and online programs preferred
- Minimum of four years’ experience in graduate admissions environment including strategy, outreach, recruitment, market-based efforts
