You will be responsible for and lead the amazing teams focused on driving impactful near and long-term innovation and transformational change to drive improvements at the heart of our core products. The goal of the framework team is to help provide a more modular, resilient, and observable platform that enables developers to work with higher velocity and quality, whilst also making it easier for Customers and Splunkers to support and operate the product. You will be driving changes in how we build and architect Splunk code, driving improvements to help make the development and maintainability of our code by hundreds of engineers simpler, as well as delivering customer-facing features.

Success will be measured by your ability to define the team's vision, influence others and to build/lead your teams as part of our overall engineering strategy. You will seamlessly integrate into our innovative culture and contribute to our excellent record for delivering market-leading solutions. You are a seasoned leader with a demonstrated history of building and leading both established and emerging engineering talent while fostering an environment of inclusion, creativity, and innovation - and while doing it, have a lot of fun!

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • You will help support the teams as they navigate through these transformational changes and help drive the adoption of a dev own’s quality mindset.

  • You will mentor, support and help your global team grow.
  • You will support the teams in designing and delivering new features and capabilities at a high quality with a predictable cadence.

To be successful in the role, candidates should be:

  • Excited to drive change and look for better ways to do things.
  • Comfortable with ambiguous or rapidly evolving requirements helping teams to shape the future direction. You will play a vital role in product innovation by working closely with product management and other engineering teams to define the vision and strategy for your teams as well as helping to build near-term and long-term plans to build and enhance the Splunk product in terms of new features with quality, diagnosability, engineering efficiency and usability at the forefront.
  • Have experience with Enterprise SDLC (software development life-cycle) & multiple tools such as Jira, Gitlab, and Confluence.
  • Experienced in building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes and have a consistent track record of delivering scalable, high-performance, and high-quality software systems.
  • Focused on organizational health with a passion to help mentor, coach, and grow - thus helping the teams be their best every day.
  • Have a broad understanding of various cloud development technologies and trends for enterprise-scale, distributed systems.
  • A highly technical engineering leader who is experienced in managing managers and engineers within geographically distributed organizations, as well as comfortable building relationships with other stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, primarily working on a large C++ code base that is delivered both on-prem and to the cloud.
