With corporate headquarters in Needham, MA a manufacturing facility in Norwood, MA, and a distribution facility in Norton, MA, we are comfortably located within the Boston metropolitan area.

To this end, we are posting for a strong Director of Commercial Finance. This opportunity will be based in our corporate headquarters in Needham, MA and follow our hybrid work model: three days working onsite and two remote working days.

Overview Of Role

The Director of Commercial Finance will serve as a credible and trusted partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and various members of the sales, marketing, and R&D teams. This individual will provide both analytical support and thought leadership by participating in key strategic discussions with data-driven recommendations. The ideal candidate will have strong data modeling skills, can create insights and key takeaways through dynamic presentations, monitor and evaluate KPIs across the organization, and have a unique ability to multi-task. Excellent communication skills and a positive outlook are a must.

Home Market Foods' Director of Commercial Finance will work closely with the Company's sales and marketing teams, ensuring the Company is driving profitable growth across a wide portfolio of products. The candidate will work closely with the CFO and the Financial Planning and Analysis team to understand trends in the business, customer/product growth drivers, opportunity areas, and business/market fundamentals which necessitate pricing actions. In addition to these traditional finance responsibilities, the ideal candidate will be professionally curious regarding the Company's Operations and Procurement functions working closely with them to understand cost structures and evaluate opportunities for efficiencies which positively impact product profitability.

The ideal candidate will also have a deep understanding of promotional spending and its impact on unit volume/profit economics. Maintaining a holistic view of the customer (vs. a finance only perspective) and working closely with your partners on the sales team to understand and drive long-term customer growth by articulating and forging win/win scenarios is critical to the success of this role.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Increase market share and consumer retention. Deliver the marketing plans for all channels of distribution, with a goal of driving profitable growth.
• Provide pricing recommendations for existing products based on the evaluation of rate impacts across the organization, driven by rising commodity or inflationary pressures.
• Communicate item, brand, and customer P&Ls to the commercial team on a monthly basis highlighting multi-year trends and variance drivers. Work to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies that will drive profitable growth across the organization without eroding revenue.
• Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to drive the organization toward a heightened consumer-centric, profit driven culture.
• Oversee the financial impact of the Company's New Product Development launch process, partnering with a cross-functional team to understand the strategy behind new item launches. Provide recommendations to align new product launches with our corporate and financial objectives.
• Review and communication of the gross margin impact back to the organization by identifying trends such as rate escalation, pricing capture, or the influence of product or customer mix to the overall financials.
• Effectively manage budgets; evaluate ROI on marketing spending and optimize for the greatest results.
• Manage and continue to develop a team of senior analysts.

Education And/Or Experience

The ideal candidate for Director of Commercial Finance is a progressive leader with a track record of success developing financial models with lead to actionable insights. Additionally, a positive attitude and an ability to inspire and grow direct reports and colleagues is critical to success in role.

Specifically, The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following

• Strong accuracy and attention to detail and deadlines
• Advanced financial modeling skills, in excel, along with solid understanding of P&L development and month-end financial reporting
• 10+ years of FP&A experience, preferably with a manufacturing or CPG company
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization
• Strong data visualization and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tell a story and transform data into clear, digestible information for various audiences
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing team priorities
