Summary
Our client is seeking a Director of Advanced Manufacturing to provide leadership in the planning and implementation of transformational initiatives and capacity projects within operations that support Company objectives and are beyond the scope and bandwidth of the operational teams.
This role’s responsibilities include but are not limited to providing leadership for new manufacturing facilities, major transitions and expansions within existing facilities, leading key capital projects related to growth or advanced technologies, working closely with plant operations facilitates, leading continuous improvement strategies, and providing leadership and support for new product launches.
Location
Sherrill, NY. Open to having person live outside of area but then 80% travel/onsite in New York locations.

Key Responsibilities
- Working with the plant manager and leadership, ensure long-term capacity exists by driving appropriate capacity strategies that deliver the long-term volume plan
- Working with engineering, evaluate field warranties to identify manufacturing-related warranty issues, and work with plant operations on corrective actions
- Monitor and investigate new techniques, best practices, and technological innovations and present them to key business and operations leadership for review and adoption
- In conjunction with operations, develop continuous improvement strategies which align with the business and operational strategies
- Lead transformational projects within manufacturing including product transitions from one site to another, capital planning and execution, facility expansion, etc.
- Provide manufacturing leadership and support for design verification and process verification builds supporting plant operations
- Elevate concerns and risks as appropriate
- Work cross-functionally to ensure designs are manufacturable and that new products are meeting manufacturing needs for repeatable processes and complexity management
- Responsible for driving common processes (i.e. definition of process, layout, and equipment best practices for manufacturing products)
- Provide training and mentorship as appropriate to manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement resources
- Key interface between Product Development and Manufacturing for all new product programs
Qualifications
- Strong project management skills and process orientation. Ability to assess needs, design, and implement processes across multi-functional groups
- Strong understanding of metrics, financial P&L, and cash management
- Ability to conduct complex analytics and synthesize insights into actionable initiatives
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience or supply chain experience
- Assembly experience a must
- Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and demonstrated success in implementing Lean principles
- Prior experience launching new products in a complex manufacturing setting
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in a complex manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and build partnerships across diverse businesses through influencing vs direct control
- Direct manufacturing experience either as an Area Manager, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager in a complex vertically integrated manufacturing environment with a track record of performance
- Able to make effective presentations on complex matters and simplify
- Ability to engage diplomatically with excellent verbal and written communication
- Effective critical thinking, problem-solving, and change management skills
