Your Role and Responsibilities

Overview:
A unique opportunity to be the inaugural legal operations manager and establish the function in a large publicly traded company with over 300 legal, contracts and security professionals located around the world. The operations manager will be a leader in the legal department and empowered to drive initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal department members.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:

  • Works with senior legal management to document and develop strategic priorities for the legal department based on feedback from senior leaders, engagement surveys, client satisfaction measurement processes and feedback mechanisms.
Operational Effectiveness and Process Improvement:
  • Develops changes to department organization and work scope/workflows/processes to increase consistency, efficiency and effectiveness consistent with industry best practices.
  • Develops talent and career development, mentoring, diversity initiatives.
  • Analyzes existing departmental processes and works with personnel to develop process improvements that promote cost reductions and other efficiencies.
  • Develops metrics for and measures department operational performance, e.g., through on-going benchmarking analysis, and assists senior leadership with recommendations to maximize resources and performance.
  • Designs and leads internal training and client facing learning and information websites etc. including new employee training.
Financial and Spend Management:
  • Manages total departmental spend including budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual variance management and all third-party expenditures.
  • Works with Finance, IT, and other functions to ensure that data supporting departmental dashboard and KPIs are collected in an accurate manner and made available for use in a timely fashion.
  • Develops and tracks metrics as a means of measuring and communicating departmental goals and progress.
Information Technology Management:
  • Recommends and project manages implementation of technology to support efficient and effective operations of the department and manages relationships with legal technology providers.
General Facilitation:
  • Facilitates communication both among the team and to external stakeholders.
  • Liaises with other functional groups to address departmental needs in a timely basis.
  • Manages calendar and agenda for senior legal team staff meetings and legal department all-hands meetings.

If you are hired, the anticipated compensation range for the position $134,530 to $269,060 is based on a full-time schedule. Your ultimate compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately.
If this is a sales role, you may be eligible for additional incentive compensation opportunities. For non-sales roles, you may be eligible for Kyndryl’s Growth Driven Profit-Sharing plan.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of business processes, legal technology solutions and best practices, including best practices in the field of legal operations globally.

  • Ability to coach employees and facilitate employee development.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in the operations of a corporate law department or law firm.
  • Experience with project management techniques and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a complex function; success managing, leading and coaching others in a large, global organization in order to achieve objectives and execute projects.
  • Experience with legal operations at a multinational or large law firm.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to impact and influence senior level leaders and stakeholders
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Team player who is results-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Additional experience in Finance or IT is preferred.
  • Legal degree preferred but not required.
