The Director LEAD Operations invests in the future of Southwest’s People by leading the Pilot Training Scheduling Team. This role provides strategic direction and focuses on operational needs relative to future organizational state, processes, capabilities, and skillsets. In addition, this role collaborates with Teams in Flight Operations, LEAD Operations, and Corporate to ensure projects align with c orporate strategies. The Director LEAD is a strong communicator w ho’s eager to lead impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities
Responsible for developing business cases to support driving individual initiatives from conceptual identification through the analysis process and the go/no-go decisions of Lead Operations Programs
Cultivate, support and promote an organizational culture that provides for high performance, high morale, integrity and Teamwork
Participate in organizational processes/initiatives, performance management, interviewing, budgeting, training, etc.
Oversee the development and execution of the LEAD Operations Vision, strategy and multi-year roadmap
Ensure identification and consistent measurement of department KPIs; works with MD Training and Standards to set targets as appropriate and leverage KPIs to identify departmental goals and measure performance
Represent Lead Operations priorities in key, strategic discussions with stakeholders, including Training, Standards, Simulation, Technology and other Operational groups
Ensure the advancement and support of LEAD Operations project management standards, practices and governance
Act as a change agent for process improvement, setting and promoting the practice of leveraging process documentation and improvement by design in all LEAD Operations functions
Responsible for implementation of new technology products, product enhancements, as well as maintenance of existing products
Maintain financial control and accountability on capital and operating expenses for all assigned areas of responsibility while maintaining consistent quality to meet business objectives
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of management/Leadership principals and personnel practices and regulations
Knowledge of technology practice, concepts, methodology, and trends related to cross-functional Teams
Advanced knowledge of project management methodology
Advanced knowledge of business acumen including understanding product strategy across market segments
Advanced knowledge of business to assess impact of applied technology on Customer’s business processes
Skilled in partnering, negotiation and communication in order to facilitate interactions with business Customers and technical support
Ability to implement strategic direction and influence at the Department and enterprise level
Ability to effectively lead others to accomplish goals/objectives, and coach, mentor and develop Team members
Ability to set and manage stakeholder expectations and deliver quality projects on time and within budget
Ability to prioritize problems and solutions at a department/enterprise level and provide effective follow-up and communication when problems occur
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Advanced level Business Acumen in Network Operations and Operational Recovery with an understanding of broad business impacts
Seasoned and specialized knowledge in
Cross-functional planning
Business and/or Information Technology environment, specifically related to cross-functional Teams
Directing large development efforts
Process implementation
Stakeholder management and driving strategic alignment
Preferred: Experience with Part 121 airline operations within Flight Operation Training
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
Ability work extended hours and holidays as needed
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $158,950 per year to $176.600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
