Description:
The Jed Foundation (JED) is a nonprofit organization that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults. The Director, Higher Education Recruitment is a leadership role within the Academic Programs Recruitment & Onboarding team. JED offers 18 month - 4 year programs creating partnerships with higher education and districts/schools to assess and enhance their efforts in mental health promotion, substance misuse prevention, and suicide prevention. JED Campus is our signature higher education program that supports colleges and universities as they create an interdisciplinary task force, complete organizational and student-facing assessments of policies, programs, and practices, and create feedback reports and strategic plans for each institution. The JED team then provides ongoing customized support and resources as the campus implements its plan.
The Director, Higher Education Recruitment will be responsible for initiating and building relationships with individual colleges and universities, systems and associations of higher education, and strategic partner organizations in order to scale the reach of our JED Campus programs from nearly 450 to 1,800. This will be accomplished by meeting quarterly and annual targets for the number and types of colleges and universities that have signed services agreements with JED and expected revenue goals. The Director will work to create demand for JED Campus within the Higher Education market by partnering with our marketing team on strategic lead generation efforts as well as exhibiting and coordinating presentations at national, regional, and state conferences. The Director will also be primarily responsible for responding to inbound inquiries and facilitating information sessions/presentations until campuses have confirmed participation.
The position requires flexibility, strong organizational, interpersonal, sales and customer service skills, research and writing skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on several projects and tasks simultaneously, and a strong eye for detail. This is a remote position with 20% travel required for conferences, promotional events, and to the JED headquarters in NYC as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automated email campaigns to follow-up with prospects that have engaged with JED’s online resources or attended a webinar, presentation, or conference.
  • Manage and create content for websites, newsletters, and promotional materials with the Marketing team.Maintain JED’s reputation as a leader in youth suicide prevention and go to resource for schools.
  • Collaborate with the Director, School and District Recruitment on collaborative outreach and partnership development efforts among the PK-12 and Higher Education markets.
  • Assist in the development and execution of annual expansion plan with the Senior Director, Recruitment & Onboarding to grow the reach of our JED Campus programs to more campuses and students nationwide.
  • Actively work to meet and/or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual recruitment goals.
  • Collect, input, and track data in Salesforce and Salesloft of all prospective, engaged, and registered campuses and leads.
  • Contribute to grant proposal writing efforts and requests for proposals to secure funding for campuses to participate in JED Campus.Maintain accurate budget reports on revenue, grant funding, scholarships, and expenses.Identify and attend strategic conferences and events in order to promote JED programs and services as an exhibitor and presenter.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with campus, state, regional, and national leaders that would lead to new campus partnerships or cohorts.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries, cultivate interest, and facilitate information sessions to convert prospective campuses into program participants.
  • Transition campuses to the Onboarding & Experience team after participation has been confirmed.Monitor and report on recruitment metrics and provide regular updates to the organizational leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Promote and facilitate regular JED Campus webinars for prospective partners.
  • Help prospective institutions overcome financial or other barriers to participation.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Excellent communication skills, including executive level presence and the ability to develop and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to travel within the US 20% of the time.
  • Proficiency in using customer relations management software (e.g., Salesforce), business development systems (e.g., Salesloft), and WordPress.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as higher education, psychology, social work or public health. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, organize time effectively, and maintain a responsive, client-oriented approach.
  • Direct higher education experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an education sales related role with demonstrated track record of success in selling products or services to higher education institutions.
  • Passion for young adult mental health and alignment with JED’s Guiding Principles and Shared Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Antiracism.

The range listed on this job posting is based on JED's compensation posting ranges. Salaries may be higher or lower depending on experience and geographic location.
Location/Travel Information:
Please note that this position is largely remote but will require retreat/business meetings at JED’s central office in NYC or other locations as designated by JED leadership. Additional travel may be required.
