The purpose of the Director, Commercial Excellence Business Partner (CEBP) is to act as a consultant to the commercial business to identify obstacles to higher commercial performance, perform root-cause analysis of problems, and employ data-driven decision making to recommend and implement strategies to overcome challenges and demonstrate improved performance.

What we’re looking for 

  • Experience managing complex, multifunctional teams, and stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (MBA preferred) in an analytical, business or scientific field
  • Experience implementing sales strategies and growth initiatives
  • 10+ years practical experience working within a customer facing sales environment
  • Expert knowledge & use of CRM systems
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the life science, advanced technologies, and applied materials markets
  • Practical and demonstrable experience with data analysis and visualization platforms and capability to interpret sales data into actionable insights
  • 3+ years’ experience in sales operations, sales force effectiveness or process improvement role focused on sales
How you will thrive and create an impact 
The Director, Commercial Excellence Business Partner (CEBP) will work closely with the broader commercial excellence team, sales, and sales support, to improve business results in the areas of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and increased market share in line with Avantor’s strategy. The CEBP will drive commercial decision-making by recommending, establishing, and continually improving standard sales processes and metrics. The CEBP will monitor best practices with the goal to identify and recommend innovations that will drive profitable business growth.
Providing analytics and insights aligned with Avantor’s Global Sales System will be a fundamental part of the role, particularly in the areas of funnel management and forecasting.

Assessing industry best practices with the goal to identify innovative tools and technologies will be critical to enable sustainable and profitable growth.
Successfully navigating in a matrix organization to develop innovative go to market solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders such as sales, portfolio, marketing, IT and various business units is required.

The Director, Commercial Excellence Business Partner (CEBP) will regularly interact with senior leadership and will work cross-functionally to educate stakeholders on sales excellence. This role reports into the Commercial Excellence organization.  Within Avantor, the Commercial Excellence team provides operational support to sales management and develops processes and procedures to support the selling process.  Commercial Excellence provides metrics management, analyses of sales results and pipelines, customer segmentation and targeting.  Additionally, the team provides sales enablement and training in support of revenue-generating activities, business processes, tools, and products.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and build partner relationships with commercial and non-commercial teams to uncover and understand business challenges, recommend improvements, facilitate short-term decision making and enable long term strategic business planning.
  • Communicate commercial insights, ideas, and recommendations to business leaders by making data and insights more visible and accessible using appropriate tools
  • Champion Avantor Business System methodology to continually improve commercial processes and team performance
  • Champion best practice use of Avantor’s CRM systems with salespeople at all levels of the organization
  • Advise and anticipate future commercial needs and introduce best practice use of processes, new technologies, and data for driving profitable business growth.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with external systems providers to keep new technologies that could benefit the business are introduced promptly to support business growth and insights.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams to create innovative approaches to providing insights or tools that support sales execution
  • Support design and roll out of standardized sales processes based on wider best practices
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Business Intelligence Manager and Commercial Analytics Team to design, prioritize, plan, prepare and review KPI’s, create reporting standards/standard work and benchmarks of success and facilitate implementation of new strategies through data analytics and insights

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$141,400.00 - $235,700.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
