Position Summary:


Bold Orange (BOCO) is eager and excited to add a Director of Business Development and Strategic Growth to help spearhead the continued growth trajectory of the Company. The Strategic Growth team at Bold Orange leads all marketing and business development efforts for the organization and offers strategic guidance to the Client Strategy and Services team on existing client growth opportunities. The Director of Business Development and Strategic Growth is a multi-faceted marketing and CX leader with proven experience building effective strategies and establishing lasting relationships prospects and clients.


While the efforts led by the strategic growth team are broad, the charter of the team is highly focused—driving purposeful growth for the agency. BOCO’s approach to driving business growth is different from many agencies in the market. We’re successfully building a leading customer experience company focused on helping brands outperform in the areas of acquisition, growth, engagement, and retention, and driving the growth that supports that vision requires the Director of Business Development and Strategic Growth to have a diverse background. Whether it’s gathering insights and designing customer journeys, supporting the creation of digital experiences, building engaging media campaigns, or enabling these experiences with martech, it’s critical to the success of this role to have strong first-hand knowledge of the services we provide and a passion to continually learn and evolve.


In alignment with our rapidly growing organization, this role is highly entrepreneurial. It’s a unique opportunity for the right leader with a strong background and sense of curiosity to partner closely with company leadership, bring forward new ideas, drive value-creating initiatives, and collaborate with incredible talent across the organization. The Director of Business Development and Strategic Growth will partner closely with the VP of Strategic Growth, the Director of Content and Strategic Growth and many subject matter experts across the company to continue the growth trajectory that has landed the company on the Inc. 5000 and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal’s Fast50 (#2).


Position Duties and Responsibilities:


Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Lead strategic internal initiatives by bringing together SMEs to create new growth opportunities
  • Keep a pulse on competitive trends, market dynamics and support industry analyst engagement efforts
  • Support ongoing strategic planning, reporting, and iterative testing and learning
  • Partner closely with leadership to continue refining BOCO’s value proposition, market positioning and go-to-market strategy


Business Development Leadership

  • Nurture prospect relationships to ensure they feel the Bold Orange difference
  • Drive proactive research efforts, diving into prospect businesses to deeply understand their needs and opportunities
  • Align SMEs across the organization to identify opportunities within a prospect’s business and build thoughtful responses to RFPs or develop differentiating presentations
  • Manage all prospects and opportunities within Salesforce and support pipeline reporting
  • Create tailored RFP responses, and compelling PPT presentations that showcase our capabilities, strategic insights and opportunities, and our approach to the work
  • Ensure that every touchpoint with the BOCO brand is of the highest quality and aligns with our purpose, beliefs and brand standards
  • Participate in new business engagements, from initial conversations to formal pitch opportunities
  • Partner with the client strategy and services and project management teams to effectively scope and onboard new clients.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Willingness to travel to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external clients and prospects
  • Firsthand experience in strategy and delivery within a client services organization offering services such as CX strategy and design, CRM and loyalty, paid media, content, and marketing automation technology.
  • An entrepreneurial self-starter who proactively brings forward new ideas with a test and learn mentality
  • Outstanding listening skills - must be able to listen for prospect challenges, unspoken objections and develop insights into winning strategies
  • 7-10 years of experience in marketing strategy, agency account management and client service, including business development
  • High attention to detail and an ability to manage and execute many priorities simultaneously with a sense of urgency and strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Curious, fearless, brave and bold
  • Strength in storytelling and crafting high-quality, visually engaging PowerPoint presentations.
  • Embraces ambiguity and sees opportunity to further refine the role within the Strategic Growth team as the organization expands and evolves
  • Ability to proactively set and manage expectations in a dynamic growth environment
