Position Overviews:
Behavioral Youth Counselor/Assistant (second shift)
Average Annual Salary ranges from $52,000 to $71,000 (for Bachelor's level positions/2nd shift).
Qualifications:
High School Diploma (required)
The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking and standing and physical agility. May be required to run and climb flights of stairs. Must be able to participate in physical interventions with youth when necessary. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Will be required to complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR training.
Applicants are required to pass an agility and strength evaluation.
Applicants must have valid driver license.

Responsibilities:
Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems. Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings. We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes. Located in Tennessee and Georgia, all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed).
Position Overviews:
Behavioral Youth Counselor/Assistant (second shift)
- Contributes to all evening and weekend milieu activity schedule content
- Also known as a Teacher Counselor
- Assists in treatment planning for each child
- The schedule for this Residential Treatment campus:
- Runs either Sun, Wed-Fri or Sat, Mon-Wed
- Three weekdays: (M-W or W-F) 3:00pm-11:30pm
- One weekend day: 7am-11:30pm
- Participates in experiential learning experiences and recreation therapy with children
- Participates in training and in-service activities
- Leads and engages youth in all evening and weekend activities and groups
- Runs either Sun, Wed-Fri or Sat, Mon-Wed
- Three weekdays: (M-W or W-F) 3:00pm-11:30pm
- One weekend day: 7am-11:30pm
- Conducts daily documentation such as contact notes, milieu notes, and precautionary notes
- Three weekdays: (M-W or W-F) 3:00pm-11:30pm
- Teaches the children necessary life skills and provides for their physical daily care and behavioral management
- Participates in community-based activities, group trips, and transports clients to various locations
- Improves children’s behavior through coping skills and other therapeutic interventions
- Provides instruction to improve children's behavior through coping skills development and other therapeutic interventions
- One weekend day: 7am-11:30pm
Average Annual Salary ranges from $52,000 to $71,000 (for Bachelor's level positions/2nd shift).
Pay varies and is based on position, schedule, and hours worked.
