Job Description
  • Works closely with and is accountable to Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintain a proficiency level of at least 80%.
  • Performs general maintenance repairs on all trucks, trailers, lifts, and reefers both gasoline and diesel.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all trucks, trailers, lifts and reefers both gas and diesel.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections: According to the schedule, performs all needed repairs indicated by preventive maintenance inspection.
  • Also work with drivers in order to diagnose problems.
  • Performs general repairs to electrical systems, starters, lights, alternators and wiring harness, brakes, including installing, engines, gasoline and diesel, transmissions, front and rear ends, air systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, reefers, feed trailers and auto air conditioners
  • May take direction from Master Skilled I & II Mechanics.
  • Works with other shop employees in order to maintain a clean working environment.

  • Ability to perform general repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, electrical and air conditioning systems and hydraulic systems.
  • Some knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, vehicle and trailer electrical and air conditioning system, hydraulic system, and welding.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and defined n .
  • Some basic training in diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, air conditioning and electrical systems of equivalent experience.
  • Must possess a basic set of hand tools up to 1/2 inch drive set.
  • Two years of mechanic experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform types of welding such as structural steel and aluminum wire welding.
