HFS provides on-campus housing to over 10,000 student residents and operates over 40 dining and café locations that serve the entire campus community. Position Purpose
Perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the Department’s residential facilities, grounds, and equipment. Provide direct customer service to the Department’s residential customers.

Description of Duties
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, floors, windows, doors, countertops, cabinetry, and kitchen appliances in the Department’s residential facilities.

  • Perform general maintenance and repair as scheduled to prepare apartments for occupancy.

  • Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner.

  • Coordinate services with Residential Services office staff and other units, including Campus Facilities Services.

  • Use a computerized work management system.

  • Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies.

  • May lead or instruct helpers or other maintenance workers as required.

  • Perform related duties as required.


  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as journey-level skilled trades worker; OR full journey-level status; OR four years’ applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.

    Experience and references that demonstrate ability to:
  • Read, write and communicate verbal and written instructions in English

  • Work with a diverse workgroup

  • Coordinate work effectively with other trades

  • Work under general supervision where work is carried out independently and evaluated on results achieved

  • Willingness to work any shift

  • Achieve success with minimal supervision

  • Ability to use the Internet, email and basic computer applications


  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working directly with customers or clients

  • Experience working in a multi-tenant residential or university environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel


  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes.

  • Possession of a valid State of Washington Driver’s License.
