Join Zimmer Biomet for a summer internship!
This position is in our Norfolk, VA location and is an onsite position. Embody (a Zimmer Biomet Company) is pioneering the next generation in soft tissue healing with novel collagen-based biofabrication techniques and biologic products for tissue healing. The company continues to develop unique biomaterials and delivery instruments providing healing solutions for challenging orthopedic procedures including foot and ankle, rotator cuff, and knee ligament. The current opportunity is a summer internship to participate in one of a variety of projects to support product development of collagen based medical devices and associated instrumentation for orthopedics and sports medicine.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Make updates to product models and drawings

• Participate in cross functional project teams
• Design control element generation (i.e. Risk analysis, DFMEAs, design reviews)
• Test prototypes and document results
• Create engineering change process documentation

• May participate in cadaveric studies

Expected Areas of Competence

• Ability to develop creative design solutions

• Must work in an FDA regulated environment
• Demonstrates excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at once
• Ability to effectively work within a team and cross functionally

Education/Experience Requirements

• Must be actively enrolled in an academic program for the entire duration of the assignment.

• GPA of 3.2+ preferred
• Computer Aided Design Systems (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T experience, Project management skills, product development experience a plus
• Pursuit of B.S./B.E. degree in engineering discipline. Mechanical or Biomedical majors preferred.
• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
