Description

Augusta Health is seeking a Coder I to join their team. This position:

  • Possesses working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding to include drug administration services, APC reimbursement methodologies, as well as a thorough understanding of coding and coding compliance guidelines to include modifiers and CCI, NCCI and all other regulatory edits in a hospital environment.
  • Codes and abstracts the following record types: Ancillary, ER, Outpatient Surgery and Observation.
  • Possesses working knowledge of medical necessity, claims denials, and bundling issues as relates to hospital outpatient coding.
  • Reviews moderate to high complexity physician documentation and translates that documentation into appropriate and accurate diagnoses and evaluation and management/procedure codes using ICD-10-CM and/or CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, regulatory compliance, and medical necessity.
  • Meets and maintains established quality and productivity standards.
  • Works closely with Revenue integrity, PFS, Service departments, and other reimbursement specialist to resolve issues, make recommendations, and provide solutions related to patient charges, auditing, and compliant revenue management.
  • Demonstrates the technical competence to use the facility encoder.

  • This position has the potential to be done remotely.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience coding hospital Outpatient Surgery/Observation accounts
    • Anesthesia coding experience preferred

  • CPC or CSS certified
  • Anesthesia coding experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent
