We are looking for a Design Manager.This is for a company who creates Gowns & Bridal, similar to Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, or the whimsical extravagance of a brand like Thom Browne, these are gowns which are worn to The Met Gala!
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY: Seeking a Luxury women's designer who is now looking to manage a team and help develop collections. This job would suit someone who is extremely organized, a proactive multi-tasker with attention to detail, excellent communication and time management skills, yet understands the design process from sketch to finished garment. Strong garment construction knowledge and experience in high-end womenswear development are required. Made in NY is preferred.
This is a full-time opportunity, working on-site from a design office & atelier in SOHO, NYC.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Manage a small team to developing collections from start to finish.
• Responsible for maintaining efficient workflows by adhering to design and development calendars and delivering to deadlines.
• Oversee creation of fabric layering mockups and sewing samples to help select final fabrics, linings, and finishes.
• Efficient and timely cross functional communications.
• Create detail sheets alongside design team from original sketches to be given to pattern makers and sewers with construction guidelines, all relevant finishings and design details.
• Oversees print and embroidery development.
• Create cut tickets alongside design team for muslins and final samples and complete packages with all fabrics, trims, linings to be passed to local factories.
• Assist Creative Director with development fittings.
• Work closely with in house Atelier and Development Team to ensure each new collection is executed to client's standards.
• Made in NYC, therefore familiarity/ relationships with local NYC Garment District resources is a plus.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
• BFA or AAS in Fashion Design with senior level design experience.
• Experience working for a luxury brand in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of clients aesthetic and passionate about maintaining client's design DNA throughout all aspects of the brand.
• High sensitivity to textiles and colors.
• In-depth knowledge of high-end garment construction.
• Proficient in Photoshop, and Illustrator on MAC. Adobe Fresco on iPad & InDesign is a plus
