The Demand Planner is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for their customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources.


Things You Should Know About Working At US LBM


  • Stays personally current on industry trends in the Demand Planning area and building industry.
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results driven from multiple ERP and reporting system inputs.
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing existing, new, and transitioning product inventory requirements.
  • Drive standardization of processes and enhancements within ERPs with Business Solutions organization.
  • Proficient in working with analytical and database reporting tools to support the demand planning process.
  • Develop effective forecast models at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Successfully communicates forecasts, inventory estimations, risk assessments, and mitigation activities to management by creating executive and detail-level reports and presentations.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
  • Develop Business Intelligence report requirements, a support development team with processes and various ERP background functions, plus prove-in and training of Business Intelligence Supply Chain reports.
  • Leads the Monthly Demand Meeting.
  • Develop and analyze appropriate supply chain demand, inventory, and supply reports using basic BI tools.
  • Support the development of Demand Planning tools and enhance/develop processes.
  • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales and Operations to obtain and ensure the current, accurate information is used.

We want you to join the team if you can check these boxes:


  • Knowledge of SAP/APO, Manugistics, Oracle Demand Planning, or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
  • Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lumber industry experience preferred.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs. occasionally, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods, and bending or stooping.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel required (ERP systems, SQL, Python a strong plus).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting, and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Strong cross-functional, peer, customer, and management communication skills.
  • Demand planning/forecasting experience.
  • Analytical- Collects and researches data; Synthesizes complex or diverse information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, statistics, or other relevant fields.
