We're looking for a highly knowledgeable, detailed and energetic Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team!
Under the indirect supervision of the Director – IT Operations, you will be responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Services with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company. This also includes troubleshooting and all functions associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of SQL Server databases including security, back-ups, logging, reporting and recovery procedures.
This is how you’ll, spend your days:
- Provides support for resolution of database-related production issues, both in and outside typical work hours.
- Analyzes current data structures and continually recommends improvements or verifies the appropriateness of the current structures.
- Participates in on call rotation with the Operations team.
- Provides guidance during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with development team, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications.
- Proactively monitors database performance and utilization to minimize downtime and ensure appropriate processing and storage capacity planning.
- Maintain knowledge of current database-related technology trends and accepted methodologies, working with architecture to promote and implement those that would be beneficial in our environment.
- Implements and releases database changes according to agreed timescales and costs.
- Works with leadership to develop database development standards and ensures compliance with these standards through peer reviews and release procedures.
- Analyzes, develops, tests, and documents enhancements to existing programs or creation of new programs as needed.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a highly motivated, focused, and detailed individual.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, but also the ability to work in a team environment with both technical and non-technical employees.
- Proven experience in the following areas: Managing SQL Databases; processes (Integration Services, Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, SQL Agent and Transact SQL).
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a combination of education and applicable work experience.
