Kalypso is seeking exceptional candidates who are passionate about the exciting world of digital technologies, including the Internet of Things, Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. Data Science Interns will help our clients apply leading data analysis and artificial intelligence techniques to challenging business problems, all while becoming proficient in the most highly valued technological skillset in the global marketplace. The learning curve can be quite steep, but our team will help you to build confidence and enable you to explore areas that are of interest to you. In this role, you will help design, develop, and test solutions for a diverse set of clients in industries such as Manufacturing, High Tech, Life Sciences, Consumer Goods, and Retail. Responsibilities:


  • Natural Language Processing / Natural Language Generation
  • Show commitment to quality and on-schedule delivery; proven ability to establish and meet milestones and deadline
  • Create data models supporting Kalypso’s digital solutions across Manufacturing, High Tech, Life Sciences, Consumer Goods and retail industries. Example model themes:
  • Be client-focused to understand and appropriately respond to client business needs
  • Multi-dimensional correlation
  • Vision AI / Language AI
  • Asset efficiency modeling
  • Model benchmarking and technology evaluation (tools, vendors, techniques)
  • Demonstrate versatility, flexibility, and proactivity when resolving technical issues and dealing with ambiguity
  • Build scalable tools to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data using on-prem, cloud and hybrid technologies – for our pre-configured solutions or on a per-project basis
  • Demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to help develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in
  • Customer behavior analysis
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Timeseries analysis
  • Demand/Supply forecasting
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to understand their concerns and actively participate in solution design and build. Work with Solution Architects to provide input to solution design, providing a data science point of view
  • Design and implement machine learning and data management strategies (ingest, process, store)
  • Understand the business requirements and the process of translating them into well-engineered and integrated technical solutions; have attention to detail
  • Risk analysis
  • Be curious and constantly learn something new to stay on top of relevant technologies


Basic Qualifications:


  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong academic performance, minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA is preferred
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or any other related quantitative field
  • Effective organization and time management skills, with ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, preferably demonstrated in previous internship or part-time work experience
  • Experience working a team-oriented, collaborative environment with flexibility and a deep commitment to client service
  • Creativity, self-confidence, and flexibility
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills


Preferred Technical Skills:


  • Experience developing in Java and .NET languages
  • General knowledge of software development and technical documentation (requirements, functional specifications, test plans, etc.)
  • Experience with R, Python or Scala scripting techniques
  • Experience using and developing RESTful and SOAP Web Services
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Proficiency with Machine Learning model development, training, validation, and application
  • Competency with Graph/NoSQL database techniques and RDBS platforms like Oracle and MS SQL Server
  • Proficiency in mathematical disciplines including linear algebra, calculus, probabilistic models, and statistics
  • Data manipulation techniques, including ETL/ETLV
  • Experience with data visualization and platforms such as D3.js, Tableau, Kibana, HTML5 and CSS


This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the United States.


The hourly compensation range for this role is typically $30-$40/hour.
