Job Description

Children and Screens’ Development and Fundraising Internship Program invites passionate graduate and undergraduate students in programs related to nonprofit and business management, philanthropy, strategic fundraising, communications, and event planning to join our dynamic team.

During this 15-week internship, you will collaborate directly with our dedicated staff and contribute your skills to assist with database maintenance, event planning, and creating engaging content for social media fundraising. Interns are expected to contribute a minimum of 12 hours per week to the internship.

The program offers a unique chance for students interested in academic credit, with a strong focus on direct support from our dedicated staff members. In addition to earning course credit, interns will receive individualized mentoring ensuring interns progress and fulfillment of their personal educational goals.

Successful applicants will be current graduate or advanced undergraduate students who reside in the U.S., are majoring in a related field from an accredited university, demonstrate the ability to complete assigned projects, and contribute to the team in a virtual environment.

The Institute aims for this internship program to be as mutually fulfilling as possible; we will assess each candidate’s capabilities, interests, and goals and tailor the role accordingly. While all interns will contribute to ongoing projects and event planning, individualized projects can be taken on if approved and suited to the Institute’s overall mission.

As an intern, you will take on a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting Children and Screens in executing its mission of helping children lead healthy lives in a digital world.

  • Researching peer organizations, donors, and/or foundations and assisting with outreach efforts.
  • Providing general administrative support to our team as needed.
  • Managing our donor database, ensuring accurate record entry, and effective communication.
  • Contributing to fundraising appeals, creating engaging social media content, and participating in event planning to support the Institute’s development goals.
  • Supporting the grant proposal process by ensuring timely completion and submission of proposals, reports, and other relevant documents.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for this exciting opportunity, candidates must have:

  • A strong commitment to Children and Screens’ mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate program in nonprofit/organizational management, business administration, fundraising, communications, event planning, entrepreneurship, or other relevant fields
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Experience in fundraising, non-profit organizations, sales, or client-facing roles
