A Brief Overview
The Data Consultant of Population Health Analytics is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and automation of analytic and reporting solutions in response to clinical and business needs. Data Analytics Consultant will interface with the organization and key clinical and business stakeholders to support Population Health and Value-Based Care initiatives and deliver solutions according to the strategic priorities.
The Data Consultant will apply critical thinking, problem solving, and technical skills to develop, and deliver the insights and analytics necessary to drive informed decision-making. The Data Consultant will interpret healthcare data by utilizing statistical modeling, predictive analytics (e.g., AI/machine learning), trend analyses, etc. to identify risks and advise on areas of opportunity to optimize improvement in population health management. The Data Consultant will work with data analysts in executing analytic solutions to accomplish total cost of care, utilization, and quality care goals of population health management. The team will collaborate and leverage technical expertise, business acumen, and clinical care delivery knowledge to propel strategic population health initiatives and value-based care performance at Stanford Health Care.

What You Will Do
  • Assists in development and implementation of ad-hoc and advanced analytics, including predictive modeling/machine learning, risk and trend identification, and self-service reporting solutions..
  • Build reports, storyboard, and present findings on health plan utilization and cost drivers to multiple stakeholders.
  • Applies critical thinking skills to implement root-cause analyses, technical troubleshooting, process analyses, and infrastructural gap analyses with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborates with internal teams, provider partners, and clinicians to design, enhance, and implement workflows and technologies to support patient-focused care delivery processes, accurate clinical documentation, and revenue optimization to deliver high quality care at a lower total cost.
  • Reports clear and concise analyses findings, advising stakeholders of available actions to address areas of opportunity.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health economics, management science, health administration, or related field from an accredited college or university, OR equivalent education/experience Required
  • Master's Degree in Data Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, Economics, Public Administration, Health Administration, or related discipline from an accredited college or university Preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • Extensive experience conducting advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses within healthcare using programming (SQL and/or Python preferred), analytical software, systems, tools, and processes involving healthcare data
  • Two (2) years of management consulting experience, OR two (2) years managing complex corporate-wide major programs/initiatives for large organizations Preferred
  • Experience with Medicare ACO and/or FFS, total cost of care, and value-based contracting beneficial.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and related work experience, OR Three (3) years with a Master’s, within a clinical delivery system preferred Required
  • Skill with Tableau reporting tools (Desktop, Server), Milliman Medinsight, and/or Clarify preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Translate findings from multiple data sources into consumable and actionable reports to various audiences.
  • Ability to validate, analyze, and synthesize data directly tied to population health and value-based care.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail and a proven track record of taking ownership of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to use information and keep abreast of developments in technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support decision-making in patient care and health system transformation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and functions internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to ensure process improvement and projects achieve results and are completed successfully.
  • Knowledgeable about the shifting healthcare environment including trends concerning health insurance, healthcare claims, healthcare delivery, provider relationships, and regulatory issues.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $57.42 - $76.09 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
