About the Department
The University of Chicago Medicine’s Center for Asian Health Equity is the only research center in the Midwest to address the diverse health care needs of Asian Americans and other immigrant populations. The Center is in collaboration with the Asian Health Coalition, a community based ethnic serving organization. The Center builds teams that span disciplines and sectors across the University and diverse Asian American and other immigrant communities to address health disparities, translate evidence into practical interventions, conduct public education, and use data to inform health policy. The center’s research focuses on health disparities, health services, and community engaged research with increasing interest in implementation and dissemination science. The Center fulfills a critical need to improve the health of underserved populations to advance health equity.
Job Summary
The Center for Asian Health Equity (CAHE) is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to perform a variety of data management duties and use knowledge of statistics to communicate analyses for research proposals and draft reports detailing their results, and work with Center’s Program Teams. The Data Analyst will maintain a close, collaborative working relationship with program directors and staff members in the Center to effectively manage research studies and program data. The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge and experience in data management and analysis and have the ability to compare and analyze provided statistical information to identify patterns, relationships, and problems. The Data Analyst will prepare detailed reports for management by analyzing and interpreting data. The Data Analyst will also provide data management expertise to the team in identifying opportunities for improvement and train other members of the team how to properly organizing findings and read data collected. Responsibilities
- Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Ensure validity of research results through timely, accurate, and complete data submission, query resolution, and reporting of deviations.
- Perform research and program data management and data analysis duties including cleaning and merging datasets.
- Generate and resolve queries and/or monitoring data.
- Assists with literature reviews and drafting papers.
- Ensure that relevant data from the source document are abstracted and recorded and that every data point can be verified within the source document.
- Attend program implementation meetings.
- Statistical support for grant proposals and program projects.
- Prepare data reports.
- Performs other related work as needed.
- Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
- Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
- Write statistical computer programs and reviews computer output for consistency and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:
- Advanced degree.
Experience:
- Working knowledge with large and complex datasets.
- Experience conducting data analysis with one or more analytic software (Stata, SPSS, R, Python).
- Working experience in analytic/quantitative field with emphasis in data science, statistics, health services research, or related field.
