Job Description
D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is a membership-based affinity program for passionate Disney fans all over the world to celebrate all things Disney, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more. D23 deepens relationships with fans by delivering insider access to unique content and experiences that span the breadth of Disney’s past, present and future while working closely with cross-company and third-party partners to engage the company’s best brand ambassadors.


The name “D23” pays homage to the exciting journey that began in 1923 when Walt Disney opened his first studio in Hollywood. D23 is the first official club for fans in Disney’s nearly 100-year history. It gives its members a greater connection to the entire world of Disney by placing them in the middle of the magic, 365 days a year, through its quarterly publication, Disney twenty-three; a rich website at D23.com with members-only content; member-exclusive offers; and special events for D23 Members throughout the year.


Reporting to Sr Manager, D23 Creative & Programming, the D23 Graphic Designer leads and produces the digital design function for D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. The position is responsible for delivering effective, aesthetic, on-brand, and on-strategy creative for websites, web pages, email promotional creative, email templates, social media graphics, and digital ads. The Graphic Designer reports to the Sr. Manager, D23 Creative & Programming and works closely with the D23 Team, Visual Communications Team, and Project Managers.

Responsibilities:


  • Produce the design and production for D23 websites, product graphics, web logos, social media graphics, digital ads, event graphics, and email campaigns
  • Translate product positioning, existing research, and offline/online Marketing strategies into effective designs
  • Ensure consistency of brand and creative across digital customer touch points
  • Apply ingenuity, creativity, analytical, and organizational skills to identify and evaluate design problems and develop strong solutions
  • Work with Sr. Manager, D23 Creative & Programming as well as broader Marketing team to translate and create marketing requirements into compelling, appropriate campaigns and designs
  • Provide overall design support to create marketing collateral product graphics, logos, identity design, or other similar offline graphics
  • Manage and produce digital design work, including banner sizing and versioning
  • Prep files for production to exact requirements
  • Work with the D23 Web Producer and DCCR (Disney Corporate Creative Resources) digital team to ensure aesthetics also are aligned with usability, accessibility, and web standards


Basic Qualifications:


  • Demonstrates creation of cutting-edge, original design solutions on rigorous deadlines with keen attention to detail
  • Adapt creative products and deliverables to fit within the Disney brand guidelines
  • Advanced skills in visual design, information architecture, print standards, color theory and typography
  • Knowledge of HTML, FTP, web design and development and content management systems and web design processes
  • 3+ years of professional experience in graphic design
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize while carrying large volumes of work
  • Aware of current market trends in both design and content consumption as well as current The Walt Disney Company brands, properties and priorities
  • Strong understanding of web design including mobile and responsive landscapes
  • Ability to multitask between projects and clients, take feedback from multiple stakeholders, work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude, as well as work flexible hours as needed


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Passion for and knowledge of Disney’s history and family of brands
  • Graphic design experience at a digital agency or in-house web team for a product-driven business
  • Event design experience
  • Illustration, editorial and photography experience
  • WordPress, Keynote and/or PowerPoint design experience
  • Experience with e-commerce websites or advertising design


Education:


Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience


The hiring range for this position in CA is $63,000-$85,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
