Job Title: Creative & Content Director
Expected Salary: $160K to $200K (DOE)
Location: Santa Monica, California
Important Note: Hybrid – 2 Days Per Week On-Site Required
Description: The Director, Creative & Content is responsible for developing creative assets and content (e.g., packaging, digital, social, TV, web, etc.) across all brands, overseeing work from various creative agencies. This role is responsible for ensuring consistency of identity, tonality, messaging and quality for both new (i.e., Restorative Elements) and established brands. This person will be the primary point of contact for all external creative and production agencies (e.g., TV, digital, social, retail) and be the “recommender” for all creative and content. Success will require this leader to collaborate with the company’s brand and channel marketing directors as well as visual and UX designers, project and product managers, developers and QA leads from concept to launch. The Director, Creative & Content will also manage the content strategy around various initiatives to support brand growth (ie, organic search, organic social media, videos) and teams’ timely execution of high impact campaigns to drive engagement, involving various channels and mediums to ensure brand consistency.
Essential Functions:
· Lead the creative vision for the company, translating business and marketing objectives into effective creative strategies for new and existing brands across paid, owned and earned.
· Partner across the company and with all external agency teams to develop creative and content that delivers business objectives from awareness and brand preference through conversion. Deliver on-time and on-budget.
· Develop and maintain a distinctive visual identity and brand voice that differentiates against competitors; ensure consistency across all touchpoints.
· Ensure integrated campaign strategy and messaging translates into authentic advertising communications (online and offline) and content in various channels (SEO, social properties, PR)
· Continuously evaluate and re-design creative, content, and processes to improve marketing results.
· Maintain an outside-in perspective and understanding of emerging social media platforms and best practices being used by others, especially in the skincare space, as opportunities to innovate and strengthen engagement.
· Hire, lead and motivate a team of internal and external writers, designers and content developers that will develop and execute a wide range of campaigns and content across multiple channels.
· Manage creative process and budgets, advocating for technology and workflows that drive efficiency and effectiveness in the creative development process.
· Act as key contact for agencies and productions for brand and creative oversight.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Expertise in translating brand positioning to effective consumer-facing creative, with acute knowledge of emerging trends and technologies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or a related field or equivalent experience, is required.
- Effective communication style: communicate content strategies to various agencies, with multiple stakeholders both up, down and across the organization, and leading teams.
- Proven ability to work with multiple external agencies to develop integrated marketing communications.
- Experience leading the creative development process from brief through delivery across all mediums and distribution channels (i.e., DTC, retail, e-commerce).
- Ten (10) or more years of creative and content experience for a consumer product, ideally as part of an in-house creative team or at an ad agency is required.
- Three (3) or more years of experience managing a team of creative and content teams for both new and existing brands is required.
· Self-directed with excellent time management skills.
· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
· Highly creative, yet detail oriented and analytical with ability to assess campaign performance and optimize where needed.
· Design proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, “mobile first” design across channels, preferred.
