The Role:

The Corporate Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer. The Corporate Controller will be an integral member of the Finance team, managing the activities of the technical accounting, financial reporting process and related activities of the finance department.

This position will require significant interaction with the C-Suite, external auditors, as well as internal operations and development teams and other non-finance personnel. The ideal candidate must be able to address technical and business questions and have the interpersonal skills to persuade or gain acceptance at a very senior level.

  • Candidates should possess good knowledge of all aspects of US GAAP

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliverables within an entrepreneurial work setting
  • Demonstrated ability to convey financial performance to audiences at different levels in the organization

  • Routinely communicate findings and information to other team members; transparency and knowledge sharing is expected and practiced
  • Support business performance through proactive identification of sound expense management, applicable cost reduction, cost avoidance, asset utilization and other opportunities
  • Practical, results-oriented team builder with superior analytical, project management and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Must have a strong desire to learn about the operations and development processes that are being undertaking to be a proactive partner
  • Developing accounting policies and procedures, including technical memoranda and appropriate internal controls, to support the business objectives
  • Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff as the company grows
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting including state sales and use tax compliance
  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement reconciliations, roll-forwards and schedules for financial reporting and audit purposes
  • Assess ongoing accounting processes and tools for continuous improvement and automation opportunities
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Managing year-end audit with the external audit firm and prepare supporting audit documentation
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the company that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization
  • Documentation of related SOPs and process narratives
  • Play a key role in supporting decision making that aligns activities with goals and objectives of each functional area, ensuring overall consistency with the Business Unit's goals and objectives
  • Manage treasury, including accounts receivables and collections, cash flow forecasts, etc.
  • Coordinate the activities of the accounting department to facilitate timely accounting close
  • Generation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external use in accordance with US GAAP

What you Bring to the Table:

  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred
  • 10+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Accounting systems experience – we are currently using QuickBooks Online, are migrating to NetSuite, so QuickBooks and NetSuite experience is a plus but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

Nice to Have:

  • SaaS and services experience preferred, but not required
  • Earlier stage/growth company experience
  • Accounting systems implementation experience (e.g., NetSuite)
