Corporate Communications Manager

The Corporate Communications Manager will support the Head of Communications and Philanthropy. Day-to-day responsibilities include concept creation, writing, and execution of key messaging throughout Corporate Communications vehicles, with a heavy focus on executive communications and enterprise-wide transformation engagement communications. The Manager’s approach should aim to inform and inspire associates through clear and compelling communication and creative strategies that build community.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Strengthen executives’ voice on specific topics aligned with JCPenney’s purpose and strategy across multiple channels, including media, scripts, memos and LinkedIn
• Lead development of a master messaging document, with the latest Company stats and proof points, drawing from both stakeholders across the Company and key external thought leadership and news.
• Identify, prioritize and routinely curate landscape of relevant third-party events and executive forums
• Establish process to enable long-term planning, measurement and tracking, and growth as it relates to executive visibility and reach.
• Offer exceptional judgement and counsel for issues management and crisis response
• Lead with initiative and curiosity and serve as a strategic partner as we navigate our transformation agenda
• Support enterprise transformation engagement plan through storytelling and engagement initiatives
• Build and nurture relationships with the executive leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders to understand the business priorities

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

• Exceptional writing abilities, adept at developing engaging content for both internal and external audiences, including stories, executive memos and briefings, scripts and other communication mediums
• 7 to 10 years of proven experience and expertise in writing for various formats for a range of communications channels and audiences, including executives
• Strong demonstration of teamwork, managing work, communication and cross functional relationship building.
• Skilled convener with ability to pull together cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a shared objective
• Experienced and versatile communications professional with ability to serve as an active thought partner and grasp enterprise-level strategy and objectives
• Proven experience establishing and nurturing positive corporate culture
• Offers creative ideation and planning support for initiatives and implementation
• Prior experience driving or supporting large-scale corporate transformation initiatives, with understanding of best practices and measurement metrics highly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
