Are you a creative copy professional who loves tackling complex e-commerce concepts? Hinge Commerce is looking for a talented Copy Manager to join our Creative Team. You'll report to the Creative Director and lead a team of copywriters at various levels, including freelancers. In this role, you'll be both strategic and hands-on, ensuring the final look of all client work aligns with our data-driven approach. We're seeking someone who can break down intricate e-commerce nuances, including rules and parameters per online retailer, into thoughtful pieces of content that align with each client’s brand voice. You'll use data to back up your points via keywords and SEO while maintaining brand voice. Your expertise will make Hinge Commerce the go-to resource for all things Copy related. Sound like you? Responsibilities:

∙ The Copy Manager will own the copy team and oversee people leading. This includes being a part of the leadership team and fostering their direct reports in their careers.

∙ Understand the positioning of each brand in our portfolio; become the subject matter expert for brand voice for each client and be able to speak to and identify changes and developments needed while ensuring that their team adheres to brand alignment.

∙ Collaborate with internal teams including sales, marketing, account management, project management, etc. to understand and accurately translate their business goals to your team to develop concise and effective communications for campaigns or content.

∙ Communicate overview of each client to copy team where needed to designate ownership.

∙ Work with account management to determine if copy materials/methodologies produced the desired results, or need to be changed; work with Digital Shelf Director to develop/ideate strategies for A/B testing and continuously work to better the quality of your team’s content including testing new tools in copy, attending webinars, Copy Ai, etc.

∙ Must be familiar with keyword research and at least a high-level knowledge of SEO and how it works.

∙ Work closely with creative team designers to develop creative strategy and positioning/brand storytelling and direct your team to tell the story through Enhanced Brand Content/A+ Content, Storefronts, and detail page body copy; the Manager is responsible for introducing the brand voice of each onboarded client to the team and will give final approval of assets before sendoff to the client (quality checking).

∙ Proofread and edit all content that is handed to the client. The Copy Manager acts as the final eye.

∙ Search for ways to streamline processes to cut down on time without sacrificing quality.

∙ Must thoroughly understand data processes (ex: keyword use tools) used internally and teach/update the team as new tools become available.

∙ Must have the desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while overseeing a potentially large team of writers, both on and offshore.

∙ Delegate all work to copy team and ensure deadlines are met; identify any blockers and seek action to rectify them so that work can be completed on time.

∙ Work with all copy team members to help develop team member goals that roll up into the larger Hinge team’s goals, as given to you by the Creative Director.

∙ Must be able to recruit additional copywriters, senior, and junior level team members as well as freelancers as needed and work with Creative Director for budgeting; must ensure coverage for the team during vacations, holidays, etc.


Basic Qualifications:

∙ Experience writing both short and long-form copy across multiple marketing vehicles, as well as a proven ability to adapt writing to various consumer audiences and product categories.

∙ Experience with presenting to all levels within the organization in both written and verbal communication.

∙ Strong understanding of grammar usage, punctuation, style, and copy-editing rules. Must be able to quickly identify necessary changes in tone and/or writing style. (Example: passive vs. active voice)

∙ Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of 4-year’s work experience in an agency or in-house setting.

∙ Must be able to effectively communicate directly with clients when needed to aid in understanding the copy team and how it is a valued contributor to the brand’s success.

∙ Must have at least 2 years of people management including working with freelancers.

Preferred Qualifications

∙ Advertising or marketing background, preferably with experience working with premium and global brands.

∙ Critical thinker and communicator who works well with cross-functional teams and can present copy best practices and defend messaging choices.

∙ Proven ability to influence and affect customer perceptions and behavior with compelling stories.

Qualified candidates MUST:

∙ Live in the U.S.

∙ Be available to work in Eastern time zone hours (even if living in a different time zone)

∙ Copywriting Experience: 4 years (required)

∙ Management Experience: 2 years (required)

∙ Education: Bachelor’s (required)
