Going greener is top of mind, so we’ve partnered with Terracycle to recycle the unrecyclable and began producing only PCR plastic bottles in 2022. amika is a Climate Neutral Certified organization, Leaping Bunny Certified and Certified Vegan.

the job:
as the Copy + Editorial Associate, you will support all copywriting initiatives that build a strong emotional connection with the amika customer and reinforce brand equity, serving as a key guardian of the amika brand to ensure consistency of brand voice across all consumer touchpoints and assets. You will support the Associate Director of Editorial + Copy and work cross-functionally to deliver clear and differentiated copy and messaging needs across channels including but not limited to Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, Paid Media, Organic Social, Trade Marketing, Customer Service and internal-facing communications.
Location: hybrid in-office/work from home schedule, with 3-4 mandatory trips per year to HQ in Brooklyn, NY (paid by company)
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 + benefits
what you’ll do:
- Work closely with the Marketing and Creative teams; project manage initiatives from brief to execution
- Develop a deep understanding of marketing compliance laws and keep the team on top of new regulations as the advertising, cosmetics, and supplement industries evolve
- Monitor industry trends to ensure we're leading in innovation
- Support product naming process including obtaining legal approval and necessary translations
- Lead The Strand blog editorial strategy and content partnering with Consumer Engagement + Social team to identify synergies and content opportunities to drive stronger 360 integration across paid, owned, and earned touchpoints
- Partner with the Consumer Engagement team to develop copy for paid media needs, influencer, and PR needs such as influencer boxes, product cards, e-mails from our DTC, and other
- Support concept + execution of any/all copy materials (video, print, collateral, social media, e-commerce, retail) for campaign or product launches
- Help to evolve brand voice and copy best practices
- Balance brand/creative and business goals—ensure all copy captures amika’s creative voice while delivering on business goals and channel-specific best practices.
- Support proofreading and fact-checking process
- Partner with e-commerce + digital marketing to A/B test marketing copy and help build understanding around what drives the best results across platforms
must-haves:
- Strict adherence to grammar and style guides
- Experience writing longer-form beauty blogs and understanding of SEO + digital search insights as they relate to contend development will be given special consideration
- Relevant experience developing copy for a variety of marketing channels including in-store visual merchandising, ecommerce, paid/organic social, and internal communications
- Understanding of digital + social best practices, including current industry trends
- 2-3 years experience in beauty – as a copywriter, editorial and/or brand storyteller.
- Collaborative, communicative, and super organized team player who can juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment at once- you can balance long term strategic projects with daily fire drills, while motivating and influencing cross-functional teams without direct responsibility.
- Extensive understanding of beauty/fashion/lifestyle space. Strong knowledge of hair category ideal, but not required.
- Rich experiences helping write brand taglines and compelling product copy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
- Must possess a strong sense of image, attention to detail

- Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements in the beauty industry today
- Experience working in smaller, entrepreneurial environments + scaling processes for growth
- Preferably located near our NYC area office to touch and test new products + in-person creative and brainstorm meetings
