Betches Media is seeking a hilarious, creative Associate Life Editor to write and edit daily stories for the website about lifestyle subjects, like sex and dating, travel, wellness, style, and much more.

Rather than traditional lifestyle content that often provides a glossy, overly aspirational version of lifestyle, the Associate Life Editor will produce funny, engaging, sometimes satirical content that finds levity in the messy, complex experiences we deal with on a daily basis. This might include stories about sex advice, navigating mental health issues and family conflicts, poking fun at awkward social situations, and more, all with a relatable, honest POV and the understanding that, sometimes, humor is the best way to deal with the BS life throws our way. Other tasks include conceptualizing new and unique content formats and collaborating with key team members on website growth strategies.

The ideal candidate is a huge Betches fan, a fountain of new ideas and creativity, and a whip-smart storyteller full of innovative ideas. You should also have sound writing and editing skills, a strong journalistic background, and excellent news judgment. Experience with sex and dating, fashion, beauty, travel, and other lifestyle content is preferred. This role will report to the Senior Editorial Director, Web and work closely with all editorial team members.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Keep your finger on the pulse of hot conversations and news across the lifestyle space to spot viral trends and movements before they hit the mainstream
• Regularly brainstorm, pitch, and source original stories, series, packages, and franchises covering an array of on-brand lifestyle topics
• Work closely with the Senior Editorial Director, Web to write and edit lifestyle features
• Assign, edit, update, and write timely stories and evergreen content, with a sharp eye for on-brand story selection, witty headlines, and creative angles and formats
• Use analytics and trends to identify new angles and content strategy adjustments to support web growth

Requirements:

• A can-do, collaborative attitude
• The ability to generate, assign, and edit an array of lifestyle ideas and stories quickly and efficiently
• Sound editorial judgment, with the ability to balance brand identity with trending news
• 1-2 years experience assigning, writing, and editing news and/or feature stories
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• A strong understanding of the Betches voice and what makes a Betches story
• The ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines with ease and efficiency
• Capable of working to tight deadlines and the ability to work flexible hours if needed
• Existing relationships with freelance writers is a plus
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and analyzing traffic trends using Google Analytics
• Demonstrated interest and experience in multiple areas of lifestyle, including sex and dating, health and wellness, relationships, fashion and beauty, travel, and more
• An established network of industry contacts within the lifestyle space

Compensation:

The expected annual base salary for this role is $60,000-65,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors such as location are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following perks below.
