Position Description
The Coordinator Marketing & Communications (Social Media Content Developer) is a vital position on a creative team in the Speed School Office of Communication and Marketing that reports to the Director of Communication and Marketing. This position collaborates with the marketing department creative team (director, graphic designer and videographer) to extend, guide, execute and uphold the University of Louisville's brand, and the Speed School identity through a variety of projects including media releases, feature stories, social media posts, marketing content, etc. This includes working with the team on content strategy, developing content leads and stories, preparing scripts, interviewing for print, formatting, and proofreading written content as needed. Applicants should be comfortable and experienced generating, producing and scheduling content for social media platforms, and have a portfolio that shows a proficiency on trending platforms. Applicants should be confident, comfortable and experienced in creating original content that is written clearly, effectively, and error-free to inform, persuade, and promote across multiple platforms. Preferred applicants will also have familiarity with AP style, a natural curiosity about STEM topics, particularly engineering, a keen attention to detail and meeting deadlines, the ability to work with diverse populations, and be a self-starter.
Job Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with other departments on enrollment campaigns, providing content, copy editing, and campaign development
  • Stay up-to-date on news and current events and adjust social strategy if needed
  • Oversee and gracefully execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attend and promote Speed School of Engineering events and produce “live” social media content
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, administration and other team leads to develop and implement cohesive, compelling and accurate content while engaging a range of target audiences.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the performance of social accounts
  • Create brand-appropriate copy, compose and edit promotional and informational copy for wide range of channels, both online and offline (i.e. print, digital, social, video) for a variety of audiences
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts and translate/interpret technical and scientific information content into a compelling narrative for a non-technical audience.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Engage with our audiences and respond to social media comments, inquiries, and messages
  • In collaboration with the communications and marketing department, develop content, including but not limited to both paid and organic social media, long-form written content
  • Provide guidance to social media student ambassadors, providing oversight and direction on student content
  • Plan, manage, and produce written content for internal and external newsletters, and featured website highlights
  • Assist with development initiatives, including communicating with stakeholders and preparing proposals and presentations for interested donors/parties
  • Create and maintain a shared calendar to plan and organize all content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations, or a related field
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, critical thinking
  • Organized and demonstrated attention to details
  • Three years of professional experience and proficiency in writing content at an agency, newsroom, publisher, or higher education
  • Two years of professional experience with B2C social media marketing and content development
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a social media management tool such as Hootsuite
  • Direct experience using social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout, Sprinklr, or other)
  • Excellent communication skills required – visual, written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Spark) or equivalent digital media editing tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Three years of professional experience and proficiency in B2C marketing and content development for print and web
Target Compensation Maximum
$72,826.00
Target Compensation Minimum
$47,476.00
Compensation Will Be Commensurate To Candidate Experience.
