General Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in business, human resources, accounting, or other related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose Of Position/Usual Duties
Performs moderately complex administrative and supervisory program work for the Payroll department.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only)
Provides assistance to the Associate Director of Payroll. Conducts state reporting requirements for the Payroll Office. Assists in collection of data and preparation of external audit materials and reporting requirements. Participates actively in the preparation of all state and federal reporting requirements monthly, quarterly, and annually. Addresses employee and administrator questions, gathering necessary data and information and timely providing answers in writing and via telephone. Responds to requests from the university, the Texas State University System, and any other institution in collaboration with the university. Provides enhanced customer service and faster response times for internal customers as well as external agencies. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies. Ensures accurate and timely reporting to external state agencies for monthly/quarterly and annual state reporting. Provides direct assistance to the Associate Director of Payroll and cross-trains for future development and responsibility of the payroll processes and producing the payroll, as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
