Job Description
Job Summary


Provide overall development, coordination and implementation of the TRIO Pre-College Veterans Upward Bound.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Compile and submit program assessments for end-of year evaluation and submission for Department of Education and grant proposals.
  • Evaluate and schedule participants in tutoring, etc., based on assessments, academic performance and career objectives.
  • Coordinate VUB activities and monthly calendar.
  • Plan, organize and supervise VUB components to meet/exceed goals and objectives of the grant.
  • Coordinate interviewing, hiring, training and monitoring of staff, including tutors and instructors.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, selection, retention and maintenance.
  • Maintain effective communication with UTA departments, VA offices/resources, community agencies, families and participants.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
  • Monitor monthly Individual Education Plans ( IEP ) and prescription sheets for participants.


Required Qualifications


  • Experience in the areas of staff supervision, budget management, program development and evaluation, reporting and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise others; excellent verbal and written communication ability; solid computer skills.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment, guidance and advising practices as well as university admissions and financial aid programs.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and work environment.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in Education or other related field and four (4) years of related experience.
  • Military Veteran status preferred.
  • Experience working with a Federal TRIO Pre-College Program in the area of post-secondary opportunity.
  • Personal knowledge of Veterans Affairs and State of Texas education programs.
  • Formal training and/or work experience in fields related to improving academic scores on standardized test, education program retention and completion, post-secondary enrollment, post-secondary completion, for low-income and potential first generation college students and veterans.
