The Contract Specialist directly interacts with, and impacts, other departments and the company in general. The incumbent possesses defined decision-making authority and is otherwise expected to serve as a contractual point of contact for clients, partner with internal stakeholders, and confer with management in connection with high impact issues.
The Contract Specialist must be able to generate, update, and administer standard agreements, amendments, and related documentation in accordance with established forms, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the Contracts Specialist must be able to must be able to review client procurement documents for response and support and assist team Attorneys and/or management, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring both contractual compliance and compliance with company policies and objectives
- Administer contracts, modifications, and related contractual documents in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
- Support and assist team Attorneys and/or management as needed
- Prepare contracts and other legal agreements based on provided templates
- Negotiate contracts in accordance with documented parameters and guidelines
- Route contracts for required signatures, revenue review and compliance; organize and maintain electronic contract files and contract database
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, both internal and external, in regards to certain contractual items
- Provide exceptions to client requests for proposals or similar documents in accordance with documented parameters and guidelines
Qualifications
- Coupled with 2+ years of contract administration or comparable paralegal experience; OR a High School diploma coupled with 5+ years of contract administration experience
- Bachelors Degree coupled with contract administration or comparable paralegal experience
- Experience in all aspects of the contract life cycle, including proposals, administration, and close-out
- Experience with software licensing and the administration of firm fixed price contracts and labor hour agreements is a plus
- Prioritize and complete multiple tasks timely and efficiently
- Basic negotiating skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of liability issues and knowledge of software licensing and practices; experience with legal contract terminology or a desire to learn
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strategic and creative approach to problem solving
- Maintain timely and effective communication with internal and external partners
- Fulfill job duties in accordance with company objectives and policies
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Strong analytical skills
- NCMA membership and CPCM/CFCM certification, or paralegal experience is a plus
- Experience in the public sector
