Since its inception in 1988, Hillwood Communities has built or invested in 92 communities throughout the United States and Costa Rica and has developed more than 38,000 residential lots. The company currently oversees 27 active projects in 17 cities and five states.


Position Summary:


Hillwood Communities is seeking a Master Planned Community Group Manager to join its growing business in Houston, TX. The individual will serve as the senior manager over designated existing and/or new Hillwood Communities projects, responsible for all P&L related to the project(s).


Responsibilities:


  • Regular interface with professionals in the following fields: land planning, construction, landscape architecture, engineering, advertising and marketing, HOA, financial advisors, attorneys, accountants, bankers and others
  • Responsible for project life budget and ongoing project cost tracking
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key local and regional stakeholders, elected officials, municipal staff and others
  • Present the leadership team and division with periodic site tours, project updates, investment summaries and best practices
  • Coordinates closely with the development manager on land development, amenity construction, planning, phasing, submittals, budget and scheduling efforts
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentoring of team members
  • Prepare and negotiate builder contracts and amendments
  • Direct the community homeowner’s association and oversee the management team
  • Leads the efforts of the project team, serving as the company’s project ambassador to the local municipalities, builder clients, and industry professionals related to the project
  • Directs the creation and adherence to community business plans including integration of development, financial, and marketing strategies
  • Responsible for corporate and on-site builder client engagement and interaction
  • Manages the project team personnel to assure the goals and objectives are met and exceeded
  • Understand and oversee financing districts such as MUDs
  • Oversee project sales meetings and project data analytics and trends
  • Work with retail brokers and negotiate retail land sales

Education and Experience:


  • Firm knowledge of master-planned community project management, development and construction. Experience with public financing districts such as MUDs is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; specifically, in Real Estate Development, Finance, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10 -15 Years working in the real estate development industry and a minimum of 5 years of project management experience, ideally working for a single-family developer or a home builder that develops larger scale communities
