Job Description
Responsibilities


  • Serve as communications liaison between 1199SEIU and the Greater New York Hospital Association leadership and staff to help guide the direction and strategy for all HEP communications
  • In collaboration with consultants manage and drive social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) and online presence to engage and inform constituents and leadership
  • Devise content and audience-building strategies in collaboration with the communications consultants
  • Expand HEP’s network of press and media contacts
  • Manage third-party vendors to complete communications projects
  • Interface with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director to set priorities and schedule communications work
  • Responsible for press outreach
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Manage all communications projects including printed materials, photography, videography, invitations, email blasts, website updates and more, trafficking work through each necessary step to ensure that correct procedures are followed and that assignments are completed on time
  • Interface with HEP staff to field communications work requests and gather necessary information to complete projects
  • Research and propose new communications initiatives
  • Draft press releases for media advisories, Q&As, talking points, statements, and other communications materials


Qualifications


  • Knowledge of healthcare policy and legislation a plus
  • Minimum five (5) years job-related experience in an office environment required, including a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills including editing and proofreading a must
  • Direct media engagement experience a plus
  • Ability to function well in a team dynamic with the ability to support and manage a statewide team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google workspace applications; familiarity with design applications a plus
  • Familiarity with Constant Contact a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Previous experience with social media, blog posts, articles, press releases, digital material, etc .
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and research abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines, multitask, make sound judgments, and prioritize work assignments
