Summary

The Commodity Manager will be in charge of the development and implementation of the commodity strategy for metal fabricated parts, heat exchangers, and additional commodities, as needed. This role’s responsibilities will span the entire procurement process from new supplier identification, source selection, system data maintenance, contract implementation, and portfolio optimization.

Travel: Up to 15% to visit suppliers and Company facilities once per quarter, with some potential International travel

Job Details

  • Partner with Procurement Analytics to perform ongoing price/rate benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness
  • Identify critical supply disruption points in the upstream value chain and formulate an effective strategy for mitigation
  • Develop an understanding of and insight into the market for the commodities assigned; including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, lead times, technology, and manufacturing capability of company suppliers and suppliers in the market that best meet expectations and objectives
  • Support function for new product launch initiatives while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies to meet program timing, cost, quality, delivery, and strategic objectives
  • Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and sourcing for assigned commodities
  • Manage the supplier onboarding process
  • Facilitate Request For Information (RFI)’s and Request For Quote (RFQ)’s for new product programs and other sourcing initiatives
  • Work cooperatively with Supplier Quality Engineering, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to assess the quality capabilities of new and existing suppliers to ensure that all product/material purchases meet defined quality standards
  • Support the extraction and consolidation of key functional performance metrics
  • Develop/implement supply base management strategies both regionally and globally that lead to lowest total cost in terms of quality, lead time, delivery, service, and unit cost
  • Facilitate supplier/engineering VA/VE activities in order to drive product cost savings and process improvement initiatives to achieve budget performance
  • Manage ERP pricing updates
  • Evaluate international procurement opportunities. Develop and execute procurement strategies that take advantage of Best Cost Country sourcing
  • Prepare, negotiate, implement, and manage purchasing agreements including pricing, terms, and conditions


Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid working knowledge of financial principles and product cost structure analysis
  • History of continuous improvement responsibility with measurable results
  • MBA preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Metal Fabrication Commodities Required
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. Supply Chain, Materials Management, Operations, Business Management, Engineering or another technical field
