Job Description
The Commodity Data Analyst will conduct analytics efforts across Whole Foods Market’s (WFM) commodity portfolio. In this role, you will provide analysis of commodity markets and other economic considerations, development, and deployment of complex models, tools, and processes to influence decisions related to risk management, cost avoidance, and maximizing asset utilization. This team member is expected to be a key contributor to the Global Commodities Team (GCT) and make an immediate impact. The GCT works with WFM Sourcing, Prepared Foods, and Merchant Teams. This position offers an opportunity for advancement and reports directly to the director of the GCT. The team member is expected to uphold the quality standards of Whole Foods Market and, further, the company’s purpose to nourish people and the planet. The position is at Whole Foods Market, global operations, Austin, Texas.


Responsibilities


  • Establish and maintain internal and external strategic partnerships resulting in long-term win-win-win relationships.
  • Develop and present communications geared to the audience and formatted to influence without authority.
  • Create, coordinate, and support initiatives related to supporting cost componentry database and query capability, technology, and data for risk management analytics and broader initiatives in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Partner with other analysts and team members to deliver complex analysis that maximizes our competitive advantage.
  • Manage information flows to and from WFM analytics systems, vendors, and contracted raw materials to ensure a predictable, competitive cost of goods.
  • Develop, enhance, and execute modeling details: parametric cost modeling, should cost modeling, predictive price modeling, and processes to forecast and describe price, supply and demand, relative value, and global trends.
  • Support the WFM Global Commodities team with timely analysis of critical commodities and other economic considerations to enhance price risk management and protect against price volatility where applicable.
  • Demonstrate leadership competency through strong business acumen, influencing stakeholder constituents, and change management actions.
  • Assist the sourcing team and critical business stakeholder efforts to align budgeting, forecasting, and procurement strategies with underlying commodities.
  • Collaborate with and train fellow team members when needed.
  • Provide thought leadership for new data, technology, tools, and innovation.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating more difficult issues to the appropriate team member.

Requirements


  • Data visualization skills, including the development of Tableau dashboards and other similar applications
  • Willingness to travel 10%.
  • Must have experience with SQL, Python, or other database management in modeling, coding, data science, and data management.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to WFM core values.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and execute solutions under tight timelines.
  • Functional knowledge and passion for managing and developing large datasets, automating data feeds from disparate sources,
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Masters Preferred.
