SENIOR COMMODITY MANAGER
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Commodity Manager, as a member of the Strategic Procurement Team, will manage commodities within the complete range of strategic sourcing activities, including the analysis of spend, the formulation of and implementation of commodity strategies, assist in negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships. The Commodity Senior Manager will help manage the procurement team, ensuring vendor performance with regards to Quality, Cost and Delivery and assisting in the developing appropriate Total Acquisition Cost models.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for >$100 Million of commodity spend.
• Oversee a team of sourcing specialists in prime locations including SSCs.
• Work with vendors and customers at a senior level as a focal point for strategy and relationship development, including high level negotiations and contracting.
• Manage the team to develop commodity strategies that identify and deploy improvements within the supply chain to optimize the total cost of acquisition, setting commodity strategy and policy with focus on its success in achieving the strategic objectives and the enablement and performance of the team.
• Support the transfer of parts to new suppliers, ensuring the source change process for any part transferred to new suppliers is completed according to company and/or customer policies and processes and at a pace to deliver managed projects.
• Assist in the design and development of the commodity specific supplier development charter objectives for delivery by the Supplier Development Engineer and Technical Engineer Procurement.
• Manage Commodity KPIs to enable performance to be monitored, highlighting any potential trends and issues and taking appropriate action in terms of corrective action or escalation where necessary.
• Manage strategic supplier contract negotiations for terms and conditions, notify value stream managers of contract expiration dates, and assist with renewal strategies as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in a related business discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years in a management position.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience within Supply Chain/Distribution Management and/or Material Planning.
• Expertise with hardware commodities, such as fasteners, bearings, seals, fittings and clamps.
• Strong track record of developing and implementing commodity strategies, managing senior supplier relationships, negotiating LTA’s (long-term agreements) in a technically demanding environment, and strategic sourcing (including emerging markets).
COMPENSATION
A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes a base salary plus performance-based bonus.
