As we continue to expand and grow, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commodity Manager to join our team in Dallas, Texas.
Job Summary:
The Commodity Manager will play a pivotal role in our organization, responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement activities related to our key commodities. This individual will leverage their extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of commodities critical to our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in contract manufacturing, exhibit exceptional analytical and communication skills, and have a proven track record of success in managing complex supply chains.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, including market analysis, supplier evaluation, and selection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Quality, to define commodity requirements and establish supplier quality and delivery expectations.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to obtain favorable terms and conditions, pricing, and contractual agreements that align with organizational objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring adherence to established quality standards, delivery schedules, and cost targets.
- Conduct regular supplier evaluations, audits, and business reviews to identify areas for improvement and drive supplier development initiatives.
- Continuously assess market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies to proactively identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and process optimization.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement supplier consolidation initiatives, standardize processes, and drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, promoting collaboration, transparency, and long-term partnerships.
- Monitor and manage commodity-related risks, including price volatility, supply disruptions, and regulatory changes, to ensure continuity of supply.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements related to commodity management, and provide recommendations for process improvements and enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within a contract manufacturing organization.
- Proven track record of successfully managing commodities within a complex supply chain, including experience in cost reduction, supplier development, and risk mitigation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize data to drive decision-making.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, with a demonstrated ability to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
- Proficient in supplier evaluation and selection methodologies, including supplier audits, scorecards, and performance metrics.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards impacting the sourcing and procurement of commodities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using supply chain management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
