Commercial Bank Strategy - Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate on the Commercial Banking Strategy team, you will support mission-critical projects ranging from developing growth strategies, to assessing and planning entry into new markets, to implementing organizational restructurings and operational efficiencies, and more. Projects are typically team-based and include close collaboration with the Commercial Banking Operating Committee and senior executives.

Our team comes from top strategy consulting firms, investment banks, and leading undergraduate and graduate programs. The Head of Strategy is responsible for defining the overall strategic direction of the business, reports directly to the Commercial Banking CEO, and is a member of the Commercial Banking Operating Committee.

Commercial Banking is focused on helping our clients succeed and making a positive difference in our communities. We provide credit and financing, treasury and payment services, international banking and real estate services to our clients, which include corporations, municipalities, real estate investors and owners, and nonprofit organizations.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess operating models for optimization opportunities, including redesign or automation
• Assess growth opportunities - geographic, industry or product
• Sample projects include:
• Refine client segmentation and / or client coverage models
• Support creation of CEO-level executive communications for events like JPMC Investor Day or JPMC Operating Committee (OC) Strategy Offsite
• Engage in broader team efforts, including recruiting, staffing, and performance management
• Apply structured problem-solving and design thinking to address top strategic priorities
• Independently own and drive project workstreams, and lead stakeholder interactions
• Broaden network and capabilities in an environment of active coaching and mentorship, in order to advance to other roles within the company if desired
• Mentor and help direct work of junior team members
• Inform product or solutions strategic roadmap by identifying unmet or emerging client needs
• Understand emerging trends or new entrants to evaluate impact and potential action
• Develop innovation solutions to transform the business model and product offering

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Track record of demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
• 5+ years of experience with a premier strategy consulting firm or an internal strategy consulting / corporate strategy team
• Strong client management and executive-level communication skills
• Demonstrated experience with consulting toolkit / broad range of analytical tools and problem-solving approaches

Additional / Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or an advanced business degree from a top-tier program
• Experience in financial services industry
