College Of Arts And Sciences - Assistant Professor - History

The African American Studies Program and the History Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invite applications for a joint hire of an Assistant Professor. This is a continuing, non-tenure earning, nine-month appointment that will begin in August 2023. The successful candidate will teach in African American Studies and Public History and supervise the internship programs in both departments. The applicant should have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness and of mentoring undergraduate students, as well as experience with online instruction. The internship program requires coordination between UAB and local organizations, so ideally the applicant should have some experience building community relationships. Candidates must have a PhD in African American Studies, History, or a related field in hand at the time of appointment. Strong commitment to teaching and service is required.
