Summary:
We are searching for a Clinical Therapist for our Southwest location - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will be responsible providing comprehensive ongoing therapeutic services to members, ensure optimal member outcomes that address quality, service, customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness. You will assist the member/member's family in coping with illness by optimizing the member's/family's self-care abilities and supporting their consumer rights. You will collaborate with other members of the health care team to provide integrated care. Lastly, you will assist in the screening for high risk developmental and behavioral health conditions.

Qualifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for health care providers
- Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
- Two (2) years of clinical experience in a medical or behavioral health setting
- Preferred for this job is the ability to speak proficiently in English and Spanish
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling
- Licensed master social worker-advanced clinical practitioner designation (LCSW) or Therapy (LMFT or LPC)
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for patients with outside organizations and schools to ensure they are being given access to all programs/evaluations organizations/schools are required to provide
- Educates staff and providers on the screening and early assessment and diagnosis of common psychological/behavioral ailments
- Assists internal and external Member Services and Case Managers by serving as a communication link and providing education on member issues
- Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members
- Assess resource utilization and cost management: the diagnosis, past and present treatment; prognosis and goals (short and long term)
- Liaise with schools, and other outside organizations to maintain consistent care for patients and families
- Arrange and monitor appropriate care and services for the members
- Assess resource utilization and cost management: the diagnosis, past and present treatment; prognosis and goals (short and long term)
- Demonstrates independent ability to relate and implement social and psychological theory to practice situations to meet the needs of the member and their families
- Practices independent ability to conduct range of interventions to include individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy to achieve treatment goals
- Advocate for patients with outside organizations and schools to ensure they are being given access to all programs/evaluations organizations/schools are required to provide
- Educates staff and providers on the screening and early assessment and diagnosis of common psychological/behavioral ailments
- Practices independent ability to conduct range of interventions to include individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy to achieve treatment goals
- Provides evidence based, client centered, solution and recovery focused counseling/interventions to help the members and their families cope with their medical, behavioral or mental health conditions, chronic disease, substance abuse, and/or a variety of life issues in accordance with the patients/families right to self-determination, multidisciplinary treatment goals, and in a safe and affirming manner toward the patient and their family
- Liaise with schools, and other outside organizations to maintain consistent care for patients and families
- Assists internal and external Member Services and Case Managers by serving as a communication link and providing education on member issues
- Supports providers in providing medical interventions for certain diseases (including but not limited to): depression, smoking cessation, and weight management
- Demonstrates independent ability to relate and implement social and psychological theory to practice situations to meet the needs of the member and their families
- Arrange and monitor appropriate care and services for the members
