Job Description

Provide clerical support to designated department or individual. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Check, analyze, and classify or alphabetize materials, conducting limited research when necessary. - Read incoming material, verifies accuracy, and sorts and codes according to file system. - Store material in paper form, or enters information into computerized storage system. - Maintain computer database. - Retrieve materials for qualified personnel upon request. - Search for and investigates information contained in files, inserts additional data on file records, completes reports, and keeps files current. - Dispose of obsolete files in accordance with established retention schedule or legal requirements. - Scan materials or copies records, and examine materials for legibility. - Type labels or reports. - Implement changes to the filing system when directed to do so. - May receive, classify, and route incoming mail. - May microfiche records. - Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic, office practices and procedures, and departmental rules and regulations. - All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must have a minimum of one to three months related experience and/or training. - Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed. - Ability to maintain established records and files. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co- workers and employees and officials in other departments. - Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. - Type accurately at a speed of at least 35 wpm and/or to operate a calculator by touch.
