Job Description

Assists in determining the quality and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule; handles and maintains flow of materials and products in manufacturing areas according to established guidelines; may operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment. Individual contributor representing the most common entry point for this career stream; works under direct supervision.

Position Related Functions and Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Company/Plant policies and Regulatory guidelines including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), AIB, ISO, OSHA, Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Check parts in and out of parts inventory to match to scheduled maintenance work.
  • Read, understand, and comply with MSDS sheets.
  • Assist in parts documentation.
  • Physically receive deliveries, complete the computer receiving transactions and restock the shelves. Assist in tracking deliveries.
  • Maintain an accurate record of all parts ordered and be persistent with suppliers for parts that are delayed.
  • Mark all incoming parts with proper job or ticket number. Put material in proper location for staging. Include a copy of the order sheet with the parts.
  • Assign part numbers.
  • Learn SAP PM CMMS system
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Order all parts for the assigned service technicians in the quickest yet most cost effective source.
  • Enter all parts information in maintenance management software following established procedures.
  • Organize equipment and develops procedures to ensure rapid retrieval of parts and inventory accuracy.
  • Analyze parts usage history to determine minimum reorder levels and maximum stocking levels.
  • Perform department purchasing functions on an as needed basis
  • Work to reduce parts levels to increase inventory turns.
  • Work with inventory management to optimize spare parts inventory stocked.
  • Obtain parts pricing for quotes, Price the quotes and type them up to be sent out to the customers. Give completed quotes to Maintenance Manager for review and approval.
  • Participate in stockroom layouts, set up cabinets and shelves, and arrange drawers to maximize space utilization and to provide room for future growth.
  • Complete all needed computer operations including receiving and posting of usage.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Knowledge of maintenance parts and of stockroom systems preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Computer proficiency, including Excel and maintenance management software.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
