Description

Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for a Claims Manager II, to support our Commercial Lines Excess Coverage and Specialized Claims Unit. The Claims Manager II plans, organizes, and directs the Commercial Casualty claims handling activities within a small-to-medium size claims office. The Claims Manager II achieves superior claims outcomes through effective workforce management, quality service delivery, and the use of technology, data analytics, and processes/programs.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares and distributes management reports analyzing and documenting office operations and performance identifies, analyzes and reports on claims processing trends and issues.
  • Participates in short to medium-term strategic business planning for field claims operations prepares, recommends and manages to the office's annual budget to ensure appropriate resource allocations and expense levels.
  • Maintains awareness of existing and proposed legislation, court decisions and emerging trends in claims litigation to monitor the company's compliance with state and federal legislation.
  • Reviews and approves, within assigned authority limits, claim expenses and settlements that exceed the claims employee's authority level appropriately refers claim expenses and settlements that exceed personal authority limits for approval.
  • Actively attracts, develops, and engages talented claims employees while simultaneously addressing employees who are not meeting expectations.
  • Monitors and evaluates the claims reserve practices within the office and ensures that actual reserves are accurate and established promptly.
  • Manages field claims office operations to ensure that adequate resources and technical skills exist to handle claims in accordance with Company service standards and expectations.
  • Focuses staff on continuous improvement, engaging in the transformation and sustainability efforts, looking for ways to build capabilities, and driving organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Commercial Casualty insurance, claims investigation, coverage evaluation, loss assessment, reserving, insurance legal & regulatory environment and claims processes
  • Prior Management experience with P&C Claims is desired!
  • Umbrella and Excess experience a plus!
  • Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others, implement strategies and plans created by senior leaders, develop staff, and achieve goals/objectives the right way
  • Other skills required include: planning/organizing work, communication (listening, delivering complex messages, gaining support, promoting collaboration, etc.), diplomacy/tact, business/financial acumen, and adaptability as normally acquired through a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 7+ years of progressively more responsible related work experience
