The Systems Engineer will participate in engineering activities to ensure successful product development, timely execution of programs, and total customer satisfaction. As a Systems Engineer, you will work multiple engineering disciplines and product development teams ensuring the logical creation and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions with a focus on future technology and integrated systems. Areas include electro-hydraulic control systems, hybrid and electric vehicles, autonomous vehicle systems, advanced suspension systems, connected vehicle systems, material handling systems and other auxiliary systems and technology for on-road and off-road vehicle applications. You will establish system architecture, perform system trades and analysis, flow down the architecture concept of operations (CONOPS) into requirements and interfaces, and support verification and validation planning and execution.
YOUR IMPACT

  • Draft, review, and release requirements specification documents, including defining the requirements and verification baseline
  • Convey progress to Senior Management
  • Create or improve plans and procedures, generate, and present briefings, and provide leadership in select areas.
  • Collaborate cross functional with multiple disciplines to identify new, obsoleted or adjusted regulatory standards (e.g. FDA or IEC).
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.
  • Leads the creation of user need requirements and decomposition of those requirements to System and Subsystem requirements.
  • Demonstrated engineering knowledge and experience in relevant electromechanical disciplines and design
  • Prepare system engineering program and design review process (SRR, PDR, CDR, FRR, etc.)
  • Work in a team environment with internal and external project teams on advanced control development efforts from the project concept through production
  • Experience in Product Design, and familiar in full life-cycle product development methods/activities.
  • Understand and champion the Product Development Process, Life Cycle Management, Reliability, and Design for Manufacturing and product requirements.
  • Use communication skills to work across the organization and customer/user community to ensure consensus and understanding of requirements and solutions
  • Review and approve System and Subsystem requirement documents to ensure user needs are properly decomposed and intent of the user needs is met.
  • Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time. May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget. May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
  • Support requirements, design, and verification team projects and coordinate regularly with key partners to maintain program objectives
  • Membership and/or certification in a professional organization (e.g. INCOSE).
  • Analyze preliminary engineering-design concepts to recommend design or test methods for attaining customer-specified operational reliability, using knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies
  • Author requirements documentation in DOORS, MagicDraw, Cradle, or similar tool for requirements management, decomposition and publication and coordinating release through approval/review process
  • Create and assist in generation of validation test cases and execution of plans to generate reports to verify user needs have been met.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and establish system and sub-system requirements according to the needs of a project.
  • Build consensus
  • Develop vehicle and system level requirements for advanced vehicle system controls supporting research, regulatory compliance, reliability, development, failure mode analysis, verification, validation, testing and production implementation.
  • Establish system architecture and CONOPS, perform system trades and analysis, flow down the architecture and CONOPS into requirements and interfaces, and support verification planning
  • Understanding and application of the standards related to Risk Management, Reliability and Functional Safety
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions
  • Work with Risk management specialist to identify risks and help define characterization, verification, and test to mitigate risk.
  • Performs complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Accredit Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON, Python, and SQL database in addition to embedded C/C++
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering
