Job Description
At Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY), our greatest strengths are the employees who empower every individual with the information, resources, and care they need to live happy, healthy lives.
We are a team of trusted health care providers, educators, and fierce advocates committed to advancing equity and improving health outcomes in communities that face systemic barriers to quality, innovative sexual and reproductive health services - including birth control, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, HIV testing and prevention, transgender hormone therapy, wellness exams, crisis counseling, and financial counseling. PPGNY also proudly provides compassionate, nonjudgmental abortion services.
When you join PPGNY as the Chief Program Officer for Equity and Engagement you will be responsible for creating an overall plan and vision for the organization’s health equity-focused, primarily grant-funded program work, including education and training programs; outreach and community engagement initiatives, including strong coalition-building work; sexual assault survivor services; large scale HIV prevention and support programs, including a mobile health component, and more that fulfill a critical component of the organization’s mission alongside our two other primary organizational content areas: health care services and advocacy/organizing work.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the development of annual operational workplans and budgets for all programs, and interface with funders to build and maintain strong working relationships. Provide leadership and infrastructure development and maintenance to the data analytics team in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Provide leadership, vision, management and supervision to the Education and Training, Community Engagement and Project Street Beat departments (combined approximate budget size $11M, approximately 100 staff), as well as a data analytics team, including direct supervision of all Vice Presidents, and in achieving program goals and the strategic vision of the organization.
  • Optimize programmatic infrastructure to maximize participant/client outcomes, including the development of shared accountability systems for employees and partners.
  • Develop and maintain continuous strategies for funding expansion in strong collaboration with the Development team (this role may one day become responsible for supervision of the grant procurement and reporting team).
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization in media, public forums, and events as needed
  • Ensure that health equity- broadly defined with a specific sexual and reproductive justice lens - is the core principle of PPGNY’s program strategies and initiatives and ensure that practices align with principles.
  • Serve as member of the organization’s Executive Leadership Team, participating in the development of overall culture and tone, practices, protocols, strategic initiatives and long-range planning for PPGNY.
  • Create, implement, evaluate and continuously improve comprehensive strategies for program initiatives within and on behalf of PPGNY. Lead strategic decision-making processes regarding program content, funding sources, program geography and population focus, and interface with other organizational areas in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Position PPGNY as a preferred sexual and reproductive health partner of reproductive, social and economic justice coalitions and collectives, by centering most impacted and amplifying women of color and LBGTQ leadership.

You have:

  • Considerable experience with federal grant programs; knowledge and experience of New York State grant programs highly preferred, and overarching knowledge of grant reporting, funder relationship building, grant prospecting and grant writing.
  • Strong, supportive management practices, collaborative spirit, and writing and communication skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity and gender and racial justice and reproductive freedom.
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Public Health or other related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of related and/or applicable experience, preferably including senior leadership experience, including a minimum of seven (7) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Personal and professional ability to lead in an environment in which a full spectrum of intersectional identities are represented and celebrated.
  • Deep knowledge of intersectional health equity principles and practices, and proven experience in developing programs that center these principles. Experience in the development and/or implementation of health education, community engagement, and youth programs required. Specific experience in reproductive health/sexuality education preferred.
  • Knowledge of urban, suburban and rural community engagement strategies preferred.

COMPENSATION:

PPGNY's benefits package includes:
Generous PTO and holiday schedule
Medical, dental and vision coverage options for you and eligible dependents
FSA, HSA, Commuter pre-tax reimbursement funds
Short and Long Term Disability, Free Basic Life and AD&D

All positions at PPGNY require:
