Job Description

Calibrate has partnered with Barnes & Thornburg to recruit a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The firm is comprised of more than 800 attorneys in 23 offices throughout the United States. Reporting to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, the CHRO will provide strategic oversight and leadership for all aspects of Human Resources for the firm.


On behalf of Barnes & Thornburg, Calibrate is seeking candidates whose areas of expertise closely align with the following:

  • Technology and operational excellence
  • Staff performance management
  • Succession planning
  • Policy development and administration
  • Talent strategy development and execution, including recruiting, compensation and benefits, talent development, and retention
  • Employee relations


This position will function as a strategic HR business advisor to the C-suite and firm leadership regarding key organizational and management matters. Additionally, they will work proactively with office leadership to develop Human Resource strategies to meet regional or office needs.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree (MBA/JD) is highly desired. Candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a leadership role overseeing an HR function in a large multi-office law firm or professional services setting and have strong functional HR knowledge. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience working independently, exercising sound judgement, developing relationships with key stakeholders at various levels, and communicating effectively.
