CHIEF ACCOUNTING OFFICER
Monarch Executive Solutions is partnering with a public B2B company based in Los Angeles, CA in their search for a Chief Accounting Officer. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting operations of the organization including the financial close, financial consolidation and reporting, internal controls, risk management, taxes and accounting policies and procedures. The CAO will also be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all applicable accounting and auditing standards for this publicly listed company. This is an excellent opportunity in a fast-paced environment to be a part of the executive leadership team and drive change and process improvements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor an effective system of internal accounting and financial reporting controls
- Ability to think creatively about complex technical accounting matters, as this role serves as the top decision-maker within the Accounting team
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial statements, tax returns, and other financial reports in accordance with GAAP and other applicable accounting and auditing standards.
- Manage the accounting and reporting functions, including general accounting, corporate consolidations and reporting, credit, accounts payable, and payroll
- Interpret and analyze periodic results, providing financial advice and counsel to the CEO, CFO, and other members of the executive team.
- Represent the company to external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the company's risk management processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and active CPA license are required
- Proven ability to lead a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Big 4 CPA experience highly preferred
- International experience is a plus (multi-currency, IFRS, multi-country reporting and compliance)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- 15+ years of experience including 5+ year’s in a senior-level accounting or financial role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley regulations, international accounting, SEC reporting requirements and tax issues are required
- 4+ years combined experience with public companies (auditing, financial reporting or accounting)
