Cfo - Aerospace & Defense Company

GJL Partners has been retained for a CFO search with a fast-growing aerospace company. We are looking for a savvy finance professional with executive board experience, strong ability to raise capital from investors & capital markets, investment banking or private equity background, experience with turn-arounds, M&A experience, and much more. This position will work day to day with the CEO and executive board members to help drive positive growth for the company. Someone coming from an aerospace or technology background is a must. This position can be fully remote position with travel required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a holistic understanding of the company's financing needs.
• Support strategy and execution for potential acquisitions.
• Work with executive leadership and departmental heads to establish product-level P&Ls and department budgets.
• Oversight of Controller; ensure all accounting functions are operating smoothly.
• Source and close deals for financing, raise money from public/private markets, support VC fundraising conversations, target special acquisitions, etc.
• Track and report key company metrics internally and externally (board, investors, financing partners).
• Build and maintain operating & financial models, manage budgets, oversee quarterly planning, track performance against forecast, etc.
• Develop a strong understanding for the business & operations, constantly suggest and implement ways to improve business performance.
• Use influence to improve unit economics: optimize pricing, discounts, gross margins.

Requirements:

• Experience with M&A and venture fundraising
• Must have experience raising new funding from investors, VC’s, private equity firms, public/private markets, etc.
• “Operational” experience: either 5+ years in strategy consulting or private equity, or 5+ years in a Senior Finance/Ops role reporting to the CEO.
• Ideally an MBA but not required
• 15+ years of industry experience
• Strong leadership abilities and experience dealing with investors, board of directors, financers, bankers, lawyers, auditors, C-suite, etc.
• 5+ years of experiences within aerospace or technology industries.
• Experience in investment banking, private equity, or growth stage aerospace companies is a MUST.
